Muffler delete question & a couple of others (newbie)

Hi Everyone,

I recently joined the site as I am going to buy an A7 BiTDI 313/320bhp on a 2014/2015 plate in approximately 8 months time (moving away from Mercedes for my first Audi). I am researching the model to find out which mods I may decide to do and what issues I may encounter. One particular mod of Interest is the muffler delete.

Is this just a case of replacing the back boxes with a straight through pipe or does it require a mod in the ECU as well? Would there be any need for a sound module afterwards or would this be a waste of money?

After getting used to the car and seeing how it performs, I may opt for the Stage 1 remap and DPF Delete. I can't think I would need to, or would want to go any further than this. Maybe a K&N filter?

If you are buying a BiTdi ot will have the active exhaust fitted which is basically sound amplifiers next to the back boxes, you dont want to delete them they sound ace.

My A7 245bhp has the back boxes deleted and straight pipes added and it doesn't sound much louder.. trust me stick with the active sound of the BiTdi you'll love it..

Removing the rear boxes won't need anything doing to the ecu it may give it a bit of a deeper tone when flooring it but the turbo(s), cat and dog cut a lot of the noise down.

I have a 2014 Audi A7 bitdi... I've recently deleted my back boxes and I have not noticed any difference in the sound I also kept the active sound boxes along with the straight pipe... I won't bother deleting back boxes to improve sound.... I did it because it was the only way I could line up the tail pipe with the RS7 kit I bought

Thanks for the info, so far I understand that BiTDI models have the active exhaust sound as standard and is activated through the HMI screen in the settings somewhere? Also other models need a retro fit to enable this.

Yes that's correct.... The active sound makes the car sound really nice you don't really need to do anything but if you still not happy you could buy a sound module to alter the sound for about £250 they are plug & play but I can't comment on if they're any good or not I've not used one
