Hey Guys,

I wanted to know if anyone currently has a MRC stage 2 setup on their S3. If so I am trying to get some feedback before going down the route myself.

I currently have a MTM box but wanted a bit more out of the car.

So any feedback would be great.

Thanks

Got a mate with Golf R stage 2 MRC and its pretty ****** quick! Reliable too. Not had issues. Have another mate with stage 4 MRC... stupidly fast but reliability out the door haha

I’ve been Revo stage 2 for a while and I love it. MRC are awesome at what they do, so if you are near or what ever you want it’s there.

I’m apr stage 2, and it fantastic but if I could of made the figures stack up I would of gone to Mrc. They’ve done my last 3 Cars....

That’s good to know, any of you gone from stage 1 to stage 2? Was the outlay and difference in power worth it?

I went from stock to Stage 1 and my intention was always to go to Stage 2, now I am going Stage 3 lol the bug bit!

I have had pretty quick cars the last 10 years or so, so it was inevitable!

Stock to stage 1 always going to give you the biggest bang for buck as they say. But 1 to 2 gives the car so much more torque which just allows the car to pull and pull, it’s genuinely amazing how a 2.0 ltr can do this and still return good mpg and reliability. I came from a stage 2 rs4 b7 and my S3 stage 2 would walk all over it, until the speeds got to 130+ I’d say.

Hi, I have a MRC tuned car they say there stage one is a stage 2 map. Making good power and just had it on a different dyno today and makes what it should so I'm happy. It is a very fast car as I'm sure you could imagine. Never had any issues with it don't know what else I can say apart from get it booked in

Quite surprised by that. I had a duel with a B7 RS4 today, presumed mapped given how well it went, whilst I was in my stage 1 fl RS3 with 475bhp and 505lb ft. I defo had him no worries, but I’d not have thought a stage 2 S3 with 400bhp would have stood a chance. B7 RS4 stage 2 not close on 450bhp.

Ps not doubting you, just wouldn’t say would “walk all over it”

I’ve had a play with 2 M4’s and I pulled away from them. Not like it was stood still or anything but definitely quicker. One had to brake to slow me down so he could get a quicker get away.

I’m just saying I’ve done it pal not trying to get a trophy!

Most B7 RS4’s at stage 2 make around 420 to 430bhp with an optimistic dyno and a really strong car your might see 440bhp. Truth is the b7 never made the claimed power from new. The reason I say walk it was not from memory it was from me in my S3 stage1 having a little play with a mate in his stage2 rs4, I pulled on him a little then but since going stage2 on the S3 my car is a fair bit quicker.
The rs4 you had a play with definitely sounds well sorted if it was a close’ish incounter..

not saying you are...I’m just saying I don’t believe you lol

Haha I’m not bothered if you believe me or not just thought I’d say. I’d challenge an M4 to prove my point any time.

I don’t post to much about this sort of thing as you get members saying they don’t believe you like yourself.

Is your car running the figures your claiming?

Over on the VWROC forum there was many a bold claim about Rs trouncing some obscene cars...you just really don’t know who your up aginst, be it modded or not, full throttle or not. Having had a mk7 R, and knowing a few people with stage 1 and 2 Rs, I know they punch above their weight, just a tad dubious about the M4 that’s all.

Been on the dyno yeh, before and after the APR map. Pulls hard, as you would expect with over 500lb ft. Not really had any encounters sadly, other than a new E400 obliterated earlier today after the encounter with the B7.

With my stage 2 suggestion I am only upgrading Downpipes and have a pipercross airfilter.

So would an mtm stage 1 making around 364, have a big difference with MRC stage 2. I was advised I could gain up to 390bhp.

Also the gearbox would get a remap too.

I mean he was all over my bumper looking for a wee duel, which I was more than happy with to see what both could do. My RS3 goes very well indeed, just had to keep my eye on the road given the speeds. He was losing ground more than gaining but I was amazed how well he did. Passed and gave me the thumbs up which is always good to see ha. Sounded incredible

Exactly mate, don’t knock it until you have tried it and I’ve done it. I’ve had plenty encounters with plenty of cars. Like I said don’t post it for this reason exactly.

The sound is the thing i miss most, I had de/catted a down pipes with a res delete and a full Miltek. You can just drive around slowly and you don’t stop smiling. Back to the incounter, it’s always easier following and always trickier leading.

Lol, that thing must have sounded savage. I was behind one a few months ago when I was in my R, went through a tunnel at low speeds and had to put the window down...even at low speeds the rumble/noise was crazy as he pulled off.

Yeh, couldn’t agree, easier to follow.

No mate, was the saloon :)

If a anyones interested to see how there car compares to a stage 1 RS3 fl (APR) mine ran an 11.5 up at Crail today. 11.57 I think. Be sure to double check results when they are up

The 1/4 mile times are really good due to the way the things launch. 11.5 is rapid.. I think that’s around stage 2 on the S3 time. From memory.

Just had a look and the stage 2 S3 is more in the high 11’s.. all pretty mad for a family hatch...

Yeh a few stage 2 Rs and S3s were running 11.9 to very early 12s. Slight headwind, like marginal. Chap on here with a Stage 2 RS3 fl is 11.1 so far on rubbish rubber. Amazed standard A45s were running 13s

It’s super car fast. 1 second slower than a Bugatti Vayron over a 1/4 mile.

If you get the R600 Intake, turbo technics intake pipe and MRC map you should be over 400bhp

Like you started off with the MTM, superb piece of kit. However got the itch and went for a custom remap with Unicorn Developments after reading through these threads:

My car is genuinely silly fast now and I fear for my license. Please see attached dragy screen 100-200kmh. This is stage 1 only (intake only and v power 99) running just 1.7 bar boost. Stage 2 will up the power to over 400hp and bring this time down into the low 8 seconds (by comparison this is a second quicker than an M4 comp) .

That does look rapid, what are you current figure with stage 1?

380hp and 400 ft lbs. Rick did a 0-60 run after the map and it clocked 3.4 sec.

Wow that’s some serious figures...Surprised you achieved that with stage 1 and intake

I honestly think you will pull better times diffrent day tyre pressures ect my stage 1 s3 with facelift had done an 11.7 and 11.6 on draggy so I'm hitting crail at end of month chasing 11.6 up there

Considering the Ariel Atom does 0 -60 in 2.8 seconds, that's some serious acceleration from your S3. Nice... very nice

More than likely. 40psi up front and 35 is what I have on the rear so not 1/4 mile friendly. Sure if I brought all 4 down to 30 I’d stand a far better chance. Saw many with ludicrously low tyres so think il do this next time. I think I’d get an 11.2/3 no worries if I did that

Get smaller wheels. Lower rotational mass will get you going quicker.

Thanks for the advice so far, booked in for a stage 2 with MRC in a couple of weeks. I will have a revo intake kit + downpipes with race cats, lets see what can be achieved :)

Ill take a run with the MTM and then with the stage 2 map and hardware to get a clear comparison.
