Hi,

I'm considering joining the amazing world of RS owners by picking up a facelift 2018 RS3 sportback

My question though, is what is the best options out there for exhaust options to get the car sounding even better?

I know it's never going to sound as good as the PFL, but I'm happy with doing some aftermarket work to make the FL sound better (as long as it doesn't affect the warranty, so I won't look at any tuning software only hardware installs)

What are the best options out there for things like catback exhausts etc?

Thanks!

The general consensus on here is that nothing can beat the Audi sports exhaust from factory.

Alright that's fair enough and it sound pretty good already (but I'd prefer a little more noise if you know what I mean to make those pops and cracks a bit better)

If I'm going to stick with the factory sport exhaust, how can I mod the existing exhaust to sound better? Has anyone cut out resonators or tried to keep the valves open 24/7 etc?

This is the route I’ll go down eventually. Already stage 1 but the downpipe sounds incredible with the sports exhaust

Get a DP
If it's a decatted DP, it's going to be very loud.
OEM exhaust is the crowd favourite.

Yeah that iroz DP sounds awesome, but swapping out the downpipe is going to throw a check engine light right?

I'm not going to tune the car ever so I can't consider options that will throw error codes unfortunately

Scorpion are about to bring out their complete exhaust system shortly and from what I have heard on video from the dev car it sounds phenomenal (and is very loud!) although admittedly on a Stage 2 MRC car.

I got a spreadsheet which shows the currently unreleased pricing figures for each part, so PM me if you're interested in the cost of it. When I spoke to them they even said they'd be interested in setting us up a group buy if there's enough interest for it.

Ah ok. So if ur not getting a tune the DP will throw a code.

Res delete is a very subtle mod. Bit more bassy and maybe 10% increase in sound if that.

Check out the res delete video on Instagram - melbourne_rs3

The other option is to get an ASR module or similar to keep the valves open. It will drone though so it's a compromise.

Plus I suspect warranty issues that OP hoped to avoid?

Im thinking of going for the miltek sports cat as it won’t void MOT and should make car sound louder,is quite expensive tho

I've asked the dealer about a cat-back, they said it would void the warranty on that part of the exhaust only but the warranty would be in tact for the rest of the vehicle

The price I got quoted is $1500usd to install a non-resonated milltek cat-back exhaust

Yes, I’ve had the ‘PCW Mod’ done... PCW Exhaust Mods is on instagram, costs £300 for the mod if you travel to him in Milton Keynes or he will travel to you for cost.

Guys the resonators, reworks the pipework so the valves open path of the exhaust doesn’t have any sound deadening so basically straight pipes the backbox.

Sounds insane! I love it

One of the reasons why the oem Audi sports exhaust is still king.

Wow money back or biting the bullet?

well this has been in dispute since May but milltek have just finally said they will give me a full refund. Still inj dispute about the diffuser but ive told them they are to blame for it so can pay the cost for that too.

I was thinking about the scorpion route but ive heard someone who has this has had slight melting too. Not as bad as the milltek though.

So I think im going to purchase a audi sport exhaust and get it modded to make it louder like a few others have if anyone has any recommendations?

Would you recommend this and an AVC? or does this negate the need for that, not sure what this guy does, but loads of you seem to love his work!

If you message him on Insta and tell him you have spoken to Billy from Glasgow he might be able to do something for you mate. He has got a location sorted in East Kilbride :icon thumright:

I don’t have an AVC yet, but I’m sure they are great.

Highly recommend the PCW mod! Tbh the valves need to be left plugged in to retain comfort, but mine are still unplugged and I’ve adjusted to the loudness :lmfao:

I will get an AVC, but for the moment I’m happy enough to save my £350 on it... got other things taking priority.

Nope I’m not! He does have a ridiculous waiting list especially if he is travelling to you.

I bought the exhaust system off of eBay with the mod completed already, somebody was selling as it was ‘too loud’ :icon thumright:

@Callump01 got his booked in within a couple of weeks notice, might have just been pot luck.

Ditto. If you travel to him then he tends to be fairly flexible, but if he's coming to you then expect months of waiting.

I'm booked in for this Friday and although I'm not looking forward to the drive to Milton Keynes, I can't wait to have it done after hearing @AudiNutta's.

One thing that annoys me about Audi is the lack of coding apps, like BimmerLink for Bmw as you could permanently keep the flaps open using the app negating the need for expensive hardware that do the same job.
