B8 2012/12-2014 Interior UPDATE

Hi all.

I'm in the market for a B8. Pretty patient for right spec etc. I know there was a great update in 2014 that received the following:

My question is, I've found a 2013 car with most of the things that were made standard on the 2014 model. However, it would just be the paddles and the Exhaust/Engine sound that would be missing. As below:

So, did these 2012/13 models receive a software patch or MMI update at the dealerships? Be great to know thanks. If not, I can just discount them from my search. Cheers all.

That does seem to me as though that should be an easy option to “enable” with VCDS, but will leave to the experts. @DJAlix?

Hey man.

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought but can't find anybody that's mentioned it. It would open up my search a bit. Wonder if it would require a different MMI unit or whatnot. Wouldn't have thought so.

Or wonder whether that is when they introduced soundaktor?

I think it just allowed the valves/flaps to be open in Individual instead of having to have it in Dynamic. Which just wouldn't be ideal. My S4 B8.5 had the soundaktor but that didn't have an active exhaust like the RS4. @DeanoC would know maybe.

I've only just cottoned on what you're saying. Soundaktor usually in the boot somewhere isn't it? Wouldn't be a simple coding alteration then.

Anyway. There may be a way round it that I was going to do anyway. The valves in the RS are mechanically controlled. Lot better than these new ones. Don't get me started. I've ******** mine. Anyhoo, id just get the technician to cable tie the valve levers and have them open permanently. I want more noise from it until I get the Miltek.

But...still be great to have the option. The garage have been really informative and helpful actually. They're gonna look into it tomorrow. See if it can be coded. All that would be left to change is try get main dealer to swap out the old paddles for new ones and swap the 20" rotors for V spokes.

Seems you're right. Fuse no 5 has the sound actuator in the 2014 model onwards. Now, I'm not sure if that would also require coding in the MMI but I imagine it would.



It might sound a bit too over accentuated but you do lose engine sound a bit in the cabin. If I got the 2013 model, at least I'd know I was getting nothing other than pure engine/exhaust sound from the sports exhaust.

Food for thought. Getting a Miltek anyway haha.
