Hi all,

I’ve got a 2011 1.4 (185) S-line A1 and after recently changing the front brakes with Brembo parts the pads had developed a really annoying rattle.

I packed the guides with copper grease when I assembled the parts as usual but after just one day the rattle started. I have since reapplied the copper grease which stops the rattle again for only one day.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Are there slightly different sized brake pads for the bigger brakes on this car? Can a mild adhesive be applied to the outer pad to ‘bond’ it to the calliper?

Thanks in advance

I've a 2013 185bhp S-line A1 and my pads don't rattle at all, And yes I've changed discs and pads for OEM and added new ant-rattle spring clips.

However, there are 2-set ups for the 185bhp A1, I suspect you have the smaller 288mm o/dia front brake disc. See Nick185BE's A1 thread "185 (8X) Brake Discs" for more information.

Mintex self adhesive anti-squeal/anti-rattle shims may help.
