Counting desperately on some help ....

What badge holder could I fit to my RS3 replica grille .... It's probably identical to a real RS3 8P grille

See Attached picture.

Just wondering .... I will run badgeless for awhile but I will eventually want to put some silver rings on it ....

Thanks

Now the real RS3 grille honeycombs are a little more tighter looking than the Replica but any rings with the block will fit . Like in the pic

What block though?

Specific Audi ? Or just a RS3 block?

I just want to find a low profile block that's got those small grilled behind if possible.

Above Instagram link he seems to have added a nice set although I would do silver rings .... Just need that low profile adapter/block .... His previous pictures had no rings so I wonder what he used.

Do I make sense?

You will probably find behind his rings there is a black block that his rings click into , tomorrow i will take a pic the best i can off the block and post here

OK think I have the same problem as the OP so glad I read this post before pulling my bumper!

I got the aftermarket RS grille and this is what it looks like with the badge mount attached (the rings just clip in here)

But look at it from the top down:

So it's not low profile at all and has the solid plastic backing not mesh like the two in the photos above.. Any help on a better mount for the badge?

I will be transplanting the rings off my s-line grille

Yes yes yes just clip your rings into that block mate and thats it. Now another thing so you know if you wish to change your Sliver Trim for a Black one you can do that too just be careful taking it off as the OEM trims fit the aftermarket grilles

According to the eBay sellers, these aftermarket grills do not fit the s line or s3 bumpers.

You like the silver surround? .... Wish mine had that .... Could I buy an OEM silver surround and add it?

I'm gonna Dremel out the insides of my holder and also gloss the whole grille including mount .... Also I'm gonna remove plastic via Dremel and other methods so the mount sits closer to the actual grille.

Your mount should have screws on the back off it which secures it to the front grille just unscrew it

Really interested to see how it comes out, was thinking of doing very similar.... My plan was taking a hole saw to it to get the shape perfect then Dremel the edges to get a neat bevel. Could then get some finer mesh and mount to the inside of the holder. Think I'll wait and see how yours comes out though before I go mental ;)

Actually not bothered for getting closer to the grille if you look at the OEM placement at least on my s-line grille it does sit out like that, keeps the emblem at 90 degrees to the road with the against the slope of the grille

If it says it won't fit S-line or S3 then its only for the A3 , so couldn't comment on it fitting S-line

Put the rings on the bonnet like the newer TT.

Could do .... I could order the TT rings and see if they followed the hood curve enough to fit ....

I wonder if it would look right though

I did think of that with the TT rings but would look rubbish on an 8p the bonnet is completely the wrong shape. I also emailed all the ebay and AliExpress sellers I could find who have aftermarket grills with low profile badge holders and no one replied who would sell me the badge holder seperate. Problem is I've now completely gone off the badge holder that came with it so no way I'm using that, it's too bulky and don't like the solid plastic backing.

So I have still not fitted the grille, I have however made an awesome numberplate mountless mount so the plate will fit directly flat to the grille. Just attached some L brackets to the back of the plate with epoxy and ran cable ties to the bracket holes, will look awesome when I finally get it fitted

I have a a facelift S-Line bumper .... Should it fit?

Did you fit yours yet? I gave up on the holder that came with it and bought a different grille that came with a holder (just the cheapest I could find on ebay) then sold the grille on separate as a badgeless one

Exactly what I'm planning to do ....

I found the one I like .... Same as what xenonz UK used to sell. eBay.

I want it to look proper and not aftermarket so thats why I'm gonna just sell mine on Kijiji and move on to different one.

I can't understand why this is becoming a problem as the mount on @miltybilty grille just unscrews from grille then you have a flat honeycombed grille , then a flat number plate holder with a hole drilled either side then 2 screws into an L shaped little piece off metal to hold it on flat , or do it through number plate alone

Ya any of the 8P facelift grilles should fit ....

More the issue I am having is I bought too cheap of a replica grille whereas if I had payed a bit more then I would have one that looked just like leskins which is what I am going to do now. On the higher quality replica grilles the mount is built in like OEM ....

Now if your going OEM look you will easily pay £250 + more for a 2nd hand Rs3 8p grille and not many come up thats why so many A3 / S3 have aftermarkets on them

Yeah but the ring holder that comes with the cheap ones isnt very good so yeah we know it can be removed as it comes removed but we didnt want to fit it. Just ended up buying a better one. I'm the same didnt bother with a numberplate holder as I have a short plate so epoxied some brackets to that

There are a few companies that do an exact copy of the RS grille a fair bit cheaper than a used one but still around £170 so more than the cheap grille. The only thing bad about the cheap grille however is the number plate holder

Have a look at the gen Rs3 grille to your best after one and they don't even come close . Firstly the honeycombs are tighter looking on one canny mind which one it is, the quality isn't anywhere near as good either so i would have to disagree with you on that point .
Oh i totally agree with you on the cheap holders but @miltybilty post was about finding rings that fitted his one and as he could find ( his words) the suggestion after that was to remove , thats what i had been saying for ages :thumbs up:

I think you misunderstood him, he was on about the badge holder, the one we got with our grilles as seen in the pictures we both posted looks properly naff.

I do have to disagree on the quality too thpugh, mines brilliant quality might not look totally rs OEM but that really doesn't bother me as mine ain't an rs anyway. But was comparing the actual manufacturing quality of mine against the original I took out and they are different designs but no difference in quality really between the OEM and mine that's made in Taiwan. I can however see why people would want to spend the extra on an OEM part but for cosmetic stuff if it's done right I don't ever mind getting a copy, great thing about buying online is if it comes and I ain't happy I'll just send it back
