Fan comes on......

Hey guys,

I’ve just purchased a 2015 A5 2.0 tdi. Only had a few days, really pleased with it but I’m a little concerned on how quick the cooling fan comes on. I’ve literally just popped to the shop, 5 minutes drive, didn’t go fast or anything, came home and turned the car off and the fan came on. Is that normal? It’s a warm day but not overly warm. My previous car, 2016 Mercedes a-class, didn’t ever do this.

Should I be concerned?

Hey man. I dont think it should if its been on for only 5 minutes. I have a 3.0 and it comes on once a month on average after a hard run. I did a 200 mile journey the other day and it dident come on after i finished. Saying this tho if i have a fun drive so to speak it comes on after for 5 minutes.

Dose your oil temp go above 90? And check your coolant res for merky water or gunk
If so i would say it might need flushing out. Also check when your last oil change happend.
