Hi guys, I'm new here and I looked around and I didn't managed to find much information about how I remove the Audi phone in the armrest that is installed in my car.
I know it looks badass and that it is a nice and cool feature, but since we carry more advanced phones with us I'd like to use the compartment of this arm rest for my phone and wallet.

At first it looks like I can't really remove it, but I'm afraid to destroy or damage the mechanism that holds the phone. The phone itself is easily removed by just pulling the cable out with the phone, but then the mechanism remains in the armrest.

If anyone knows how to remove it without much issues, that would be awesome!

Thanks in advance.

This is mine! It's a 20VT Quattro and I plan to lower it and bring it to S3 specs.

Can you not just replace the armrest? What car is that in?
I’ve never seen one in the 8l before

For some reason when I quote his post From pics of your a3/s3 his picture doesn’t show in the quote

It's in an 8L A3 and I've seen how you remove the armrest, but I just want to remove the phone out of it, especially because the storage in the doors kinda suck in compare to my previous car (MKIV GTI 20VT).

I've not seen a phone in the armrest before, that is proper retro! Love it! As for the armrest, not sure how you take the phone out of the arm rest without leaving holes and things behind, try taking the arm rest out to get a better idea? If you can't take the phone out neatly, get a second hand arm rest and just take yours out and put a plain version back in. You can then buy the cup holder that goes inside where the phone used to be. Very useful if you have a pre-facelift model.

I guess that's what I have to do! If it's that uncommon, it might have some value as well...

Would doubt it would have much value. With phones and Bluetooth now a days there is much better options.
You don't see to many people walking round with a module phone from the 90's.

I actually don't care about the value, if it has some, then I won't doubt selling it to someone who collects it. I ain't going to damage this armrest to get the phone out, if it's one piece, then I just install a regular, but tomorrow I'll take a look to take it out and hopefully there's not to much wiring to take care of.

It is rather simple , but this is based on the iphone cradle build into the armrest and 8p model but probably similar for 8L.
Firstly remove back ashtray . Look in hole and a bolt should be there and plugs for cradle remove and armrest should be free.
Then remove lid press on the 2 plastic bits ,wiggle side to side amd lid comes away .
Next you should be able to remove big plastic pieces at side off armrest .once in there you gradually u have to gently peel away the layers off parts and eventually you should come to phone base and there should be 2 screws unscrew and remove .
