3rd day and still none the wiser...

Assume this is Approved Used, in which case surely similar to new, apart from instead of new factory order, they would source suitable replacement at no cost to yourself, or I suppose you could potentially "upgrade" and agree an amount to pay in...obviously drive a hard bargain on this front.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-news/34744/rejecting-a-new-or-used-car-top-tips

The Sale of Goods Act contains three clauses that apply to every car purchase made from a new or used dealers: The car must be “as described”, “fit for purpose” and “of satisfactory quality”.

If you’ve bought a used car, then obviously the age of the vehicle and the mileage it has covered will affect any judgement on what qualifies as ‘satisfactory quality’. It’s worth noting that if you buy privately, then the Sale of Goods Act doesn’t apply. Instead, the only obligation is that the car is ‘as described’ in its advert.

I thought as much given you were speaking to Audi. Surely they need to see sense, and ship this car back to Audi UK or wherever and get you a suitable replacement. How can 8+ weeks be acceptable.

Not sure how things work these days but thought it used to be the case that they had to be given a couple of chances to repair and most of the time they've taken is due to diagnosis (or failure to diagnose). Also, it wasn't a major failure - just a noise that could have potentially led to something worse. So they may not feel that rejection is justified yet. You may push for some freebies in view of how long you've been without a car such as a couple of free services but beyond that could be a stretch (although given that one owner on here got a new S4 after rejecting due to undiagnosed electrical issues then who knows!)

@Happy Grumpz need to change the thread title to 8 weeks and counting and still none the wiser :wtf:

Lol they will just sell it on...

My car was a odd spec with sport 150tdi and b and o

I ended up with a s line with comfort and sound pack and metallic paint I paid a small amount extra to get the sline... This was a in stock car so they got it to quickly

I then wrote it off and ended up with a 190 which i paid the difference again lol

So today's update is just another kick in the plums...

The factory have told the garage to drain off the engine oil (which was replaced during the service that took place when the car went if for the issue (go figure)) along with the gearbox oil to see if they have any contaminants.

If they come back clear they've been told to order a mechatronic unit, this is a special order from the factory and takes around a week.

What a complete shambles, they'll have had the car for 10 weeks on Wednesday.

Mate, I cannot believe this has dragged on for 10 weeks! It really is hard to believe tbh. Hope you are at least clocking up some serious miles in the loaner. Have you broached the swap car scenario with Audi?

Yup, it’s unbelievable mate.

I rang customer services again today and they asked what my expectations were. I simply said my car back ASAP or a replacement vehicle.

They’re going to get back to me in a few days, I’m not going to hold my breath.

Today's little update...

They've drained the oil from the front part of the gearbox and that's all clear.

They've gone to drain the oil from the back section of the gearbox and realised they need a specialised tool that they don't actually have :confounded:

They've located one at another branch which they're collecting tomorrow morning.

What a mess. Hope it gets sorted to your satisfaction, along with some sort of compensation for your trouble, very soon.

haha yup, I think you're right.

This has now hit 10 weeks today!

I've posted on the Audi UK facebook page and also tweeted them about the situation, I'll be amazed if anything happens but I can only try.

I think I would be complaining to the Audi managing director that clearly this branch of dealership is doing them no favours. I would send him a recorded letter detailing all the 'work' they have done to the car:

Ok it's a start, if it's any consolation we are having a minor issue with the tailgate with our new fiesta as it doesn't close properly sometimes. Promises by the local ford dealer to have it fixed a month ago, yet still it isn't and phone calls not returned etc etc.
Not as major as yours and we still have the car but really it is a simple adjustment that I probably could make but for some reason technicians appear to unable to do even this simple task these days.

They are about to get a phone call from me to say 'let's return the car and we'll talk about rejection' if they don't phone again today. We waited 8 months for this one to arrive because of delays, we were patient but now that is wearing thin.

Well this is their response to the Facebook post I made earlier today...

"Thank you for the case number and your patience, Matt. We've checked the case notes and can confirm that your Case Manager has been liaising with the Centre who are investigating the issue with your vehicle. We can see that your Case Manager has updated you with the latest information from the Centre. XXXXXXX Audi are currently taking on board advice from Audi Technical in an attempt to repair your vehicle. Rest assured the Centre are doing their utmost to repair your vehicle in a timely manner and get it back to yourself as soon as possible. We have requested the Manager to contact you as soon as they have more details."

Again, fobbed off.

Although it's a good job they're trying to repair the car in a 'timely manner' as I'd hate to see how long it'd take if they decided to drag their feet ;)

You'd like to think that despite the ever so polite call centre kind of response in public, that behind the schemes someone, somewhere is getting their ears ripped off!

I think I'd copy everything - emails/phone calls etc - to their nice Facebook page now (keeping screenshots in case they start deleting!) as an incentive for the public face of Audi to sort it out.

Erm, not much point redacting the dealer name given it is in your previous screenshot!

I would speak to audi finance. Thats how i started. They have the authority to authorise rejection. I got put through to a case handler who gave the local dealer (teesside) ultimatum and then she worked with the sales manager to get the replacement car sorted

Wouldn't it been cheaper for the dealer to give you a brand new car instead of trying to fix this one and use it as a courtesy car.
