What kind off arduino are you both using , been reading up on Arduino's
Im using the arduino nano. its miniscule and is powerful enough to control the lights. great kit for less than £3

i have the leds and arduino powered in parallel as the arduino nano wont have no where near the enough amparage to power the leds. the strip runs on 12v too as well as 5v. 12v is brighter.

I've never come across a 144 LED/m WS2811 strip since the WS2811 is actually a LED controller with a separate RGB LED so occupies more space.

WS2812B is 144 LED/m is which has a max VDD of 5.3V as per the datasheet. https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/datasheets/WS2812B.pdf

What are you using?

Running WS2812B @ 12V is a no go!

I use 5V 32u4 boards more often. About ~£5.

Just need something with enough pins. An ATTINY85 has enough pins if using 1 continuous strip (like D7YAB) and costs £1

hmm, ive not actually looked into the power requirements but ive used 12v and 5v off usb and both work fine and colour is also the same just a noticeable difference in brightness .

im using ws2812b with 144 leds per meter. chose this as i wanted the animation to be continuous and this was the only strip with the leds as close as they can possibly get.

Need this in my life and you doing the fronts as well?

it would be really easy to do the fronts but i have a prefacelift a3 and dont think it would suit it. maybe with facelift xenons in place of drls.

We used to to use Stika flex on car and train build it’s very sticky and flexible. But assemble in dry conditions and oil free environment

Thanks, ill order some. lol i was thinking superglue

This is top, top work lads. Well done! The reverse light action is better than OEM.

Thanks, it looks more complete than what it actually is. Theres a few more things needed until its ready but im held up on my car as its a prefacelift and i dont want to be messing with the tail lights until its fully ready to be converted. If only i had another 8p to toy with

Any updates with your lights? Mines ready to be installed just waiting on few connectors and ive changed it from daisy chained to 4 individual strips controlled separately.

You were right about not daisy chaining them as its wayy too many wires. Ive ordered the connectors from ali so its taking a while to arrive.

Amazing mod. Well done guys. Would definitely be interested in purchasing the kit when ready

Would you mind making a vid of the inner and outer light indicating at the same time? I think it would like quite cool (different) if they indicated together

yea sure, so you want the inner and outer to start indicating at same time? and not have it flow as one strip. I can make a video. ill have it uploaded by tomorrow.

Hi. Did you manage to make those changes?
Hi mate, sorry ive not had a chance yet. Remind me this weekend before i hopefully install the lights. The software is completely finished and its just a matter of fitting them in now really.

So i have had my kit ready for quite some time now. I just haven't had the time to install my lights into my car as I need to facelift the connectors from prefacelift ones to the facelift connectors. Anyways I did one side and thought why not see if my kit actually works Here's a video of it below.

I still need to facelift the rest of the connectors then install the rest of the lights. I'm hoping to get this done by end of this week.

I can work on them but I would need a set of those very expensive xenons to toy with
that's the problem, cost of a spare set of front facelift xenons

Very nice result buddy - props to you for keeping at it! Would be great to see how you've built that. I have a little Arduino project of my own - will post details once it's at a functional prototype phase :)

Appreciate it. You have me intrigued as to what your working on now. Also might as well drop the fact I'm starting Bluetooth controls of the lights using arduino for show modes . These lights have too much potential to leave them unexplored

This is mad, they look perfect! I always think dynamic indicators on new cars look so much more premium. Wish i had the knowledge to be able to do this! congrats man!

I fully agree on the potential of this - I was toying with a similar idea when I looked at the indicator project. You might want to consider an ESP32 board as it already comes with plenty of horsepower, storage as well as integrated WiFi and BT connectivity out of the box! And it's Arduino compatible, so much of your existing code is likely to just work on that too.

Multi-gauge that integrates with OBD and external sensors for boost, oil pressure, etc... It has an OLEd display and optional dynamic LED shift light. All of this is very configurable via a simple button interface and an interactive menu.

Can someone do one for closing n opening Auto folding mirrors on 8P by using key fob .
Plus lads if you get it to work correctly with no bugs give me a shout as I would be very interested in getting it fitted to my S3 8P 3dr

are they up and running yet would love a set for my facelift great work my 59 year old brain could not even begin to get them working lol

Hats off to you for working this out.
My problem would be so many cars have these now they sort of lost their exclusivity. I see even range rovers are doing it now.

Audi will have to think of something new ? I wondered about a similar flashing strip wired up to a speaker system that shouts "look out" "look out" with each flash ? It would work well with my idea for a Horn that shouts "get out the ****** way " when you push it ?

I found this video on YouTube

And there is one comment where the guy asked how he did it, he gets a response with a link that’s in Japanese and with pictures. I did the google translate and it seems easy enough if your good at that kind of thing.
