Hi Guys

Hearing alot of people talking about the coding they have applied to change the throttle to "Direct Control"

Has anyone on here dis this recently and can explain the benefit/difference ?

Thanks

Make no difference

Have already tested it on the 2 cars we own....

Some of my customers report good results but I have only found this adaptation to work on some vehicle and not others. The theory behind it, as I understand it anyway, is as follows:

A throttle pedal has a 0 position and a 100% position, and can register every % point in between.

Throttle control over time (default):

You want 50% throttle so you push the pedal half way down, what happens? You would expect the car to take off however... how long did it take you to push the pedal from 0 to 50%? If less then half a second then the car should take off after a small touch of “Audi engineered safety” lag. If 1 to 3 seconds, so you were in effect “furthering” the pedal, then the car will accelerate slowly to 50% throttle. This is because the ecu is looking at the time it took the pedal to go from 0 to 50% as well as the %. If slowly then the car accelerates slowly, adding to the “Audi lag”.

Direct control:

This should change the way the ecu calculates the throttle input from “over time” to direct %, so 50% means 50% no matter how long it took you to get there.

Now I say “should” because when I tested on my 2017 2.0TFSI I found the adaptation made no difference at all, and I tested extensively with a view to removing my pedalbox... and yes I tested with and without, and after putting some miles on the car with the box removed so that any stored parameters were purged.

What I have noticed is that it’s mainly PFL cars where owners report a difference, but some FL owner have also.
