as title says... got swirls on the black plastic B-Pillar.
Does anyone of the collective knowledge know best method to either reduce or remove the swirls?

I was thinking of the plastic headlight scratch remover (meguiars) and fluff pad but given the position and the kind of 'in-your-face' position of the pillar it could go really well or horribly horribly wrong.

Much appreciate any help, thanks

4” pad and fine compound has sorted this out for me in the past

I did mine by hand. Foam applicator with some AF tripple. By no means was it perfect and I didn't put a great deal of effort in, but they did look better. Basically my DA is too big for those so I had to get creative. :)

Rupes are Vauxhall conference league... Flex = Champions League
Flex= German made
Rupes = Italian made
No brainer lol
Ferrari/Lambo, or Audi/BMW - I'll take the former :icon thumright: , but am guessing big price difference (no idea honestly), in that case cannot beat german engineering :hi:

Think there roughly the same price for the larger DA's didn't go with Rupes because it comes with a 6 inch backing plate,5 inch backing plate costs extra ££, but the Flex is a bit more expensive for the smaller 3/4 inch DA's

In this case its the pads and polish that matter the most not the machine mate it's a matter of trial and error, but the Rupes keramik fine polish and a soft pad looks a odds on bet from our @Rob2k68

LoL no not cheap but built up over time , this bad boy completes the trio and will also make a good job of the B pillar trims but also is one of the only DA’s that’ll get in on the ‘R’ splitter and diffuser parts ....

Looked at these ya rich Barsteward....lol but too expensive....and the reviews where 50/50......on them....concerning the metal top half.....surprised Rupes have'nt brought out a newer improved version.....maybe soon and hopefully cheaper.....for the hobbyist as thats where the money is to be made.l done young matts front diffuser/splitter with the Shine mate rotary and it came up looking very nice indeed and that was just solid black plastic....not painted....which would have been easier to correct....same guff the high gloss black A pillars are made of

Agreed mate they’re a pretty price to swallow, I got this lot at a pre order special price and they look to have gone up £200 or so since but I have to admit that it’s the one I use the most especially on the painted black bits ....

Feel your pain mate the moulded black like mirror caps and pillar trims can be hard to restore and swirls up very easily just by looking at them !

I had the ibrid nano, its a great little kit but you need to be seriously ocd to get the most out of it @Rob2k68 lol
I sold it and bought a flex as I reckon the forced orbital action copes better with all the swage lines on the 8V

I had my gloss black pillars done with PPF when new - still unmarked almost 3 years later.
Maybe worth thinking about getting that done after you've dealt with the swirls by machine ?

scuse ignorance but whats PPF? thanks

Yep - sorry Alan - paint protection film. I had the front end and side sills of my S3 done and the installer suggested doing the pillars too - glad I agreed :chuncky:
It's a very small area so I'd imagine wouldn't be a huge cost.
