My bitdi build thread

No progress really but I bought some billbery wheel cleaner and gave her a good wash today.
Nothing better than a clean motor

Look what arrived today!!!
Second time lucky making it through customs from China.
Quality is very good.
I have used a dremil to remove the 3 solid bits which were to attach the full size plate holder, which I have butchered to make it small to fit my short plate.
Fingers crossed fitting tomorrow night

So it's on. Few niggles and modifications needed for it to fit correctly but it's on and I'm happy with the over look.
What do you think?

I like it, have you considered swapping the chrome rings for black ones?

Cheers mate,
I had the option of black rings when i bought the grille but the wife's one request was to keep the front rings chrome so had to keep her sweet.
I have black rings on the back and black s line wing badges

I went with black rings on mine, but I went the whole hog for the black edition look including black wing mirrors.

That looks great! I must be in the minority for the quattro logo being plastered over it.

How much did it set you back?

Keep forgetting to update this thread so here are some up to date pics after having the rotor wheels powder coated satin black

Looking good mate. The caliper paint will finish the look of the wheels off nicely.

Wheels spacers on the way too to fill the arches a little more and give a wider more aggressive stance

What sizes have you gone for?
Ordering mine soon.
10mm on the front and 15 for the rear.
Wifey doesn't want the car lowered as our estate has loads of speed bumps so suspension will be staying as is

Just worried the wheels will be even easier to kurb lol

Very true haha!
I'm thinking 10 for my fronts too, unsure on 15s for my rears now with lower height... might opted for 12s.

After reading your spacer post the other day, I looked at mine. If I'm not mistaken, the top of the wheel arch is wider than the sides - meaning if you align the wheel with the top, you'll see tyre tread lower down the arch. But if you align with the side of the wheel arch, it won't be flush with the top of the arch. Not sure which I'd prefer; probably the narrower of the two. Post some pics up when you've fitted them, but knowing where they've come from, I'm sure they'll look mint.

You will get away with 15mm on the rear no problem. Look in my build thread and there are some pictures of mine with 15mm on the rear with the car in show mode (lowered about 45mm) and there is no issue with rubbing. I ran mine with a 26mm drop for day to day driving without any problems.

So after buying wheel spacers from @marriedblonde they arrived yesterday and after getting up mega early this morning to fit them before work I realised the powder coaters have not put the little tweezers for removing the wheel nut caps back so after trying with other implements and being super careful not to damage the freshly powder coated rims I gave up and went to work in a huff.

Fortunately working in mechanical design and having access to 3d printers I was able to model up and print out a couple of plastic tweezers and they worked a treat.

So 10mm on the front and 15mm on the rear. I think it looks a lot better and looks more aggressive although as the suspension will be staying standard I do think I could have gone 20mm on the rear and 15 front.
I'll see how I get on and maybe in the future I could get some 20mm for the rear.

Pics attached.

Thinking of colouring the quattro badge on the rs grille in red.
Mocked this up on paint 3d.

What do you think guys? Yay or nay

Looks nice...
I'm more a fan of the subtle look and everything blending together (yes I have a tad of OCD haha).
I think colour-coding it to your car would look spot on :icon thumright:
