What have you done today?

Bought these back regretted selling these and seen hendo put them up for sale so had to get them back. At least I knew these were genuine unlike the plastic fakes I bought to replace them

Finally got round to fitting the RNS-e, it was a ball ache of a job but I’m happy with the results...

Didn't spend enough time on mine... part of me now wants to use my current one in the A2 and have another go in the S3... lol

<tuffty/>

I was the opposite, spent about a month planning it (the hardest bit was finding a double din console to experiment with). Like I said it’s a bit of a ball ache job (cutting cage, bracing it at the right height and dealing with all the problems that raising it causes) but I think it’s worth it for the finished look.

I definately think the A2 is crying out for an RNS-e unit...... :tearsofjoy:

you modded the cage to lift it? that what I thought about doing afterwards... and I had a ****** centre console too to faff with... ah well

Just need to find the double din setup for the A2 and another RNSE.... at some point... :)

Started to strip back these lcr brembos, there were 2 separate layers of primer and paint, 2 completely different shades of red! Almost there now. Going yellow with black decal. :icon thumright:

With the climate controls using the same cage I couldn’t see any other way of doing it than cutting the cage in half, bracing it and elongating the fixing holes to allow it to sit higher. This allowed the climate controls to stay in the right place but raise the RNS-e unit.
The only cutting involved then is the ‘ledge’ that is left when you remove the chrome strip meaning you don’t have to touch any of the visible bottom edge....guaranteeing a good finish.
There’s a few other bits you need to do but they will become apparent when you start doing it. The one thing I missed before it was all finished and fitted back in was the 2 ‘feet’ that the cup holder sits on the top of the cage, I left these untouched but obviously they were now about 5mm higher which stopped the cup holder working. Had to file them off through the cup holder gap :tearsofjoy:

Nice work! What paint is it if you don’t mind me asking? I’m thinking of using vht stuff, or just Halfords.

I just used Motip primer, caliper paint and lacquer. Not expensive and nice to use.

That makes three of us...

Picked up this bargain from a former ASN member, was looking to buy a 3” or 3.5” Zinram exhaust system from eBay and this popped up! Along with very rare armrest cup holders

@syncro No mate, before I wired in the Canbus it worked great taking the time from the GPS signal, now it's all over the shop and only matches the time on the cluster occasionally!! Just one of those things I'll have to put up with til someone a lot cleverer than me comes up with a solution

They usually stay in sync for the first 15 mins of the hour but then it all goes astray, the arrival time of the navigation will be off too. What we need are more bjarne cangate modules, there are plenty b5 s4/rs4 and 8l owners who would buy them.

I have sorted my time sync issue without a bjarne cangate but I have done this by modding later dashclocks from another model Audi to fit Inside the s3 cluster and my immobiliser is currently off so I have not had to match them to my ecu and key.

@syncro Yeah I would definately buy one, I don't know why it doesn't just give you the option of taking the time from the instrument cluster OR the GPS signal instead of just locking it to the cluster when the Canbus is connected. If you hear of any solutions drop me a line :thumbs up:

I have read that the rnse displays the correct time in engineering mode but not in normal operation

I almost finished (I still have to paint some parts of the bumper in a matt black) my project with the rear bumper.

Hey Jo, you’ve still got the smashed S3 after all this time?? You planning on fixing it up?

Hey bud, I still have it! Lol

Just too busy with life in general to do anything about it. Apart from a flat battery, it still starts and drives! Haha

Collected some more parts as they are starting to become unavailable from Audi now, full set of new blades

Too Much!

The rear door blades are not available from Audi now but were around £70 each

The front door blades are still available but stock is low, around £230 each and then they need painting

Braided lines (thanks bill) and new nipples on. Had to get an old nipple spark eroded out but apart from that all good.. just need new discs and pads and they are getting fitted.

Lesson of the day....do NOT entrust your pride and joy to tyre fitters that think it’s ok to use your floor as a jacking point!!
