Now i'm not downing anyone in the sligthest by posting this if anything i am trying to help. Now i fully understand that New members wish to get there posts answered quickly like most other members do too so here is a way that help can be given quicker.

1) Quick read off Sticky's does no harm
2) Use the SEARCH Facility ( little magnifying glass ICON top right ) .
3 ) Give as much info as you can about problem ( car model , age, + pics if possible .A app is in the Stickys for android n iphone to resize pics for displaying here , have to be less than 2mb ).
Lastly this will help with getting replies quicker as members will notice that you have at least tried to find your own answer plus admin have went to a lot off trouble to add these functions to help .:thumbs up::thumbs up::readit:

My pet hate is someone asking for a part or service "near me" but don't tell us where they live.

Social media sites have been rotting our brains. Getting your instant dopamine hits. Predictive text and for some the lack of actually doing much writing. I include myself. Quit Facebook, it’ll be the best thing you’ve done this year. Reduce other personalised social networks. Your mental health will improve. I still glance at twitter to see what’s going on in the world.

In all honesty let’s not worry too much about the posts. What we can’t start doing is chastising new and long term members for asking questions. It’s human nature to ask for help whether we’ve done our own research or not.

How many times have we called a bank or virgin/sky and hit any number to be put though to and Agent, ignoring the IVR rules and listening to the suggestions for 2-1-4-4-3? I’m sure we’ve all done it.

Communities are open to all, whether you’re lurking, and active participant or someone who needs one off assistance. As active members we must appreciate that and either support or ignore accordingly. I completely appreciate there is a search function (which isn’t 100%) and there is a Sticky Board but sometimes people just want an answer.

As soon as we starting imposing a set of rules as prerequisites to posting (aside from a community code of conduct), redirecting members to google or alternative sources, we breaking or devaluing what the community should be - they’ll end up joining a Facebook group - if you want to see d1ck questions then take a look there.

If we’re unhappy with the quality of question asked here, suck it up and move on. We don’t need to post (unless your chasing a post count) - those posters will soon get the message, do their own research or go and ask on Facebook!

My 10c worth (we don’t have 2c or pence here in NZ)

Spot on Sam, I would add that most questions posted are a darn sight more useful than a lot of the answers that are posted. If you dont know the answer or are just guessing why bother to answer ? telling people to use the search engine or the like is not helpful, they may well have tried that and got pages of "Photo bucket pictures removed"
Forums like these are a continuous rolling membership, people buy Audis and later sell audi's. Its inevitable new owners will ask old questions but this is a good thing because it keeps new posts relevant to newer owners and at the top of the pages. If everyone just uses the search facility or google or facebook then no one needs to post at all...
There have been a lot of "page count " posts recently, Sorry but i think this thread is another.

Lads, if people read the OP it is not Slating anyone new or old it is a helping post which a forum is all about , but what i have noticed is this post has been twisted to make out that i' am personnally having a DIG at new and old or even classed as a post count:wtf:.

Now i do agree with @samuelh_888 that we have all made the mistake and been in a hurry to get the answers ( eg , sky, virgin etc) but once you do it and get nowhere you learn and would have been better waiting on instructions to resolve your problem.
Now if new or old dont know where this help could be then i try to give them a helping hand ( what a forum is about ) which in turn will help them find the answers and if they dont then a decent description off the problem again will help them get the answer.

If search works you do, of course, get your answer quicker. But it doesn't always work too well. For example I recently wondered if I could get LED headlights retrofitted. But got loads of posts about puddle lights and Philips Nightbreakers.

Quite often I use Google to search for a specific phrase and see what results pop up form this forum, it's usually a better way of getting the info from the same source.

You can put site:audi-sport.net in your google searches to just search this site.
