Ok so think I’m going to start hunting for a TTRS steering wheel to fit to the RS3.

I do love the red 12 o’clock stripe and the bit that’s in silver round the controls id get carbon dipped to add a better finish.

Also can someone give me some more information on what else is needed to retro fit one and get all the functions working?
How long does it take to fit? Is it even worth the hassle?

I was thinking about getting this but found out it’s only plastic clips that go over the leather so might not look/feel as good in person so thought about going down the TTRS wheel route.

Mate I’ve been looking for a TTRS wheel for the last 4 months there like rocking horse ****, the only one I’ve seen for sale was from Latvia I think and that was for €1300.

It would need coding in to the car for all the functions to work correctly, I know it’s been done by a few in the states. My F80 M3CP I had the LED Race Steering wheel fitted which was an epic piece of kit and that has a whole separate wiring loom and then required coding to the car, but the TTRS one looks nowhere near that level so should be fairly straight forward it’s just finding one.

This isn’t as straight forward as you think.

@DJAlix has done a few now.

The wiring for the Drive select / Start button being the tricky bit because of the clock spring connections and the fact there aren’t any spare positions in the multiplugs

@billymc92 what about using these guys: http://royalsteeringwheels.com/

I have seen a number of members on here have used them and are very happy with results:

https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/royal-steering-wheel.253168/

Might be worth giving them a call and see if they can customise/replace to what you want.

8S TTRS’s are as rare as rocking horse sh*t in general. There’s only around 350 scattered around the country. Has anyone actually seen one on the roads?

For that reason, picking up any spare or used parts is going to be a bit of a nightmare. Steering wheel would be very sought after on a damaged car.

How much do Audi charge for a new one? Aoon is probably your best bet as he managed to source and fit one to his own car? (Or was that an R8 wheel?) - I think he said it was a PITA and cost prohibitive to get it to work.

Also, not sure where the 12 o’clock red band has come from in your pic, that’s not standard in a TTRS, don’t even think it’s an option.
Edit... It’s an Audisport performance part (not available for the U.K. market)

Aoons was an R8 steering wheel, looked epic thou, but he said it was expensive from start to finish.

Worth the cost??? Thats upto the individuals own pockets

Don't let brexit limit your horizons - try Ebay Germany. There are five, four for an R8 and a TTRS.

332687072586 for an R8 - interesting this wheel is in London, but does not list on ebay UK!
There are another four like the above, but best bargain of all:
253737297808 for a TTRS - I'd grab this in a hurry as I am not sure the seller does not appreciate how low he has priced it...

is there not an aftermarket pod for Audi steering wheels that has the start and select buttons as an add-on somewhere? I see to remember seeing one of the German Autohaus Tuning people maketing a set..?

Aoon's was actually a TTRS wheel. I can't recall the exact cost, but it was phenomenally expensive. It's a lovely steering wheel but surely not worth the cost?

The TTRS wheel linked to on eBay above may be worth a look in to be fair. £1k probably is ‘too cheap’ in relation to what Audi would charge.

The fitting and coding won’t cost that much even if it is a pain and it will always have good residual value so the money isn’t wasted, just deferred. (Or you could sell the RS3 wheel to recoup)

It's an awesome steering wheel. If someone can upgrade to it for a reasonable cost then I would definitely do it. Some of the prices I've seen thrown around though I would suggest it would be cheaper to just trade the RS3 in for a TTRS!

Hey Billymc92, where can I get those clip on Carbon trim pieces for the RS3 wheel?
thanks

I've bought a TTRS Steering wheel with Drive Select and Start Stop buttons so now trying to look for help to get it fitted to my RS3 Saloon Facelift 2017
(still need to buy the airbag)
I'm in North London area

*Can someone help put me in touch with someone who can connect this up? They could become the first in the world to provide an easily available DIY Guide for this (I think Aoon tried here in UK but I cant see his How-to guide, others are in Russia and the US but havent showed how to)

Thanks guys

hey mate was wondering if you can throw some light on this
I have a ttrs wheel installed with everything working including the drive select button , only button not working is the start engine button .
Could you please help a brother out and tell me how to go about it . From what I have heard it needs to be re wired via the centre console but
some proper guidance would be nice

S3xxvii, I have the TTRS wheel (now put it up on eBay UK if anyone wants to grab it) and I had enquired with the undoubtedly amazing DJAlix about getting the same done but didn’t get any interest back about doing the mod after he said he couldn’t help me didn’t have the parts to do it which was a shame, yes he’s invested time and money as it is a unique mod, it would’ve been great to buy that service off him if he could've got the parts back (but never heard back), now I’ve got a customised carbon RS3 wheel so that TTRS mod went to the wind not really fussed now

S3xxvii the TTRS wheel is awesome and hopefully he can help you finish your mod off, may need to be very patient if you need any parts

Unfortunately I am still seeking a new supplier for the parts I need to complete this retrofit in a manner which does not cause issues.

No probs, I’ve heard you are the main man for these mods from all the great references, hopefully you get the parts in, if you have anyone wanting to do it and just missing the TTRS wheel, point them to eBay as I’ve got one up there, help you provide your unique mod to others

Hi have you solved this? I'm just doing the same retrofit.

S5 b8.5 2015. After ttrs wheel. Anyone manage to get it working or point me in direction of someone who can fit it or supply module etc. Based in uk. Thanks

Aoon can fit one but it's a trip to Scotland I am afraid. Not too sure who else can in the Uk.

@DJAlix must be able to? Top man and highly recommended if he can.
Probably, done S3/RS3's before however I am not interested in taking on the project as its a very different vehicle to the MQB's and would require lots of testing which in turn takes time and would have a cost assigned to it.
