What did you & your B9 do today?

The car has had a two ceramic coatings applied by a detailer in the summer of last year. I then just pre-wash with a citrus juice, shampoo with Chemical Guys wash and wax shampoo followed by a Autoglym Aqua wax.

Ah, thought it looked too good to just be wax/polish. I use autoglym aqua wax, does work well. Thanks for info

Nothing. We left the B9 in a storage unit at Liverpool airport shivering & sulking. Two weeks apart as we enjoy the warmth of Fuerteventura!

Gave it a wash in the lovely afternoon sun. My jetwasher pulses (for some reason) when it delivers snowfoam and my neighbour came round and said it was making their lights flicker! After I’d got over the absurdity of what she said, I explained that our houses (detached) have separate electricity supplies, that the jetwasher uses only low current anyway and that if it was affecting any supply it would be likely to trip my consumer unit first. Afterwards I thought how many lights did she have on at 3 pm on a sunny afternoon?

If you don’t like me using my jetwasher, just say so, luv. Don’t come round my house with batsh*t stories! I want to wash my wife’s A3 tomorrow, so I wonder what will happen when I apply the snowfoam?
 
Going to pickup my Audi A4 Allroad tomorrow ! :blink:

Went to Whitby for the weekend. 200 mile round trip. 58.7 mpg. 150 diesel. Happy with that.
 
Dropped mine off at the detailers. Gonna be a long week.

You have a picture of this because I didn't know it was a thing and would like to try it and see what happens. :)
 
Yes the unit with the wires going to it, and labelled soundaktor, mine only has the two threaded lugs...
 
Ah, gotcha! I thought it was a picture of your car @cuke2u, so was a little confused when you said something about the lugs. That all makes sense now. thanks guys!

I'll do a photo tomorrow. Not the same as 'cuke2u" photo, as the V6 is different. It is the circular 'thing' to the left, with the locating nut on the top, behind the radiator overflow clear plastic bottle(???). Caution, it can be hot!!!! I just unplugged it & zip tied the wires.
Apparently one can reduce the sound to 0% via OBD11. But I am still technically in the 19th c.

However, today I ordered this:-

Had another dreaded understeer moment & decided enough is enough.
Contacted Eibach Aust about a rear bar only from their front & rear bar kit. The guy that recommended the '7-22' spring kit advised that as the rear bar is only 20mm, same as OEM, and that theirs is not adjustable, in his opinion I was wasting $$'s on their bar. Hopefully fitted in, say, a month.

I was going on this post where you stated it to be located on the firewall. The firewall is the bulkhead between the engine bay and the cabin.
My bad if I got it wrong but it does say soundaktor on it:

Any idea about which module of the car it might be in as I have access to VCDS but with a quick look at lunch I wasn't able to pick up where it was... That said, I don't know if VCDS is fully updated to accept all B9 modules yet or not so maybe it's in the one or two that it couldn't communicate with.

I think the first photo cuke2u posted shows the soundaktor attached to the bulkhead and below this in the photo are some thin white and red wires coming out of a round thing just behind the coolant reservoir - is this what you have disconnected? If so, I have that on my 2.0 quattro and it looks like it is a thermostat.
 
It has what looks like to be coolant pipes going to it and if it's hot I would suggest not disconnecting it as it isn't linked to the soundaktor..

I certainly would advise not to disconnect this. This looks like a solenoid and may be there to allow additional cooling flow to other components under certain circumstances.
 
Note this photo is of a S4 (V6). The soundaktor is the black round thing. In this photo the wiring plug (at the front) has already been removed.
The hot I was referring to is the plastic bottle one has to manoeuvre around to disconnect.

Ok, it looks to me that is the device that makes the noise, to my eyes in that photo the actual soundaktor device that activates it is fixed the bulkhead to the right in your photo as it is the same size and shape as the one I posted.
However if this work then all is well and good...
 
Unfortunately because the way the wiring loom is constructed, one can't tell if both parts are connected, or, in fact, where any of either wires connect to.

It does look all rather tight behind the coolant tank. In the photos I sent that circular device isn't obvious, I guess it is a speaker of some form, so I would have though that disconnecting the wires to the actual Soundaktor on the bulkhead would do the same as you have done.

On the S4, I found it actually easier to disconnect where I did, using a small flat blade screwdriver. Also, it is much easier to zip-tie the wire so it does not hang loose, possibly lie against something hot and potentially short-circuit.

Have you noticed much difference?
 
Thinking of having a go at unplugging the exhaust valves on the S4 today but concerned about the fault brought up when Audi check. I know I could always plug them back in but wondering if it's more hassle than it's worth. Hmmm.

I think that they'd have to be a seriously bad garage to have an issue with what's realistically a non-critical valve being unplugged. I've not heard of anyone having any issues at all. Or, you could pick up an OBD11 and just clear the fault before it goes in for anything?
