Time to play:racer:
So far i enabled the following:

1: Exhaust Valves Open ( Definitely make a different!)
2: Turn signals to flash 4 times instead of 3
3: G Force meter
4: Torque & power dials

Is there anything that is a must or worth having that i have missed off above?

Thanks

I've got a Carista, so just wondering if anybody knows how this compares to a Carista?

How much does it cost

Right....im having trouble adding credits every time i try to purchase extra credit i get a error message say "unable to add credits" ive checked my payment details on Play Store and they are up to date, i even can't get the free credits when i watch an ad which it say "Ad's not available, please try again later"

Anyone have any ideas??

Carista is very limited compares to OBDeleven, with OBD11 you basically has all the functions of VCDS including long coding, adaptations, live data and logging, IMO, it’s a must for Audi owners.

Be careful with statements like this. Although there are many people using OBDeleven its a dangerous product if you do not use it correctly.

Carista is simple and contains preset mods with no "manual" long coding / adaptation ability at all. It can scan for and clear errors and reset service indicators. This app is now subscription based which in my mind lets it down.

OBDeleven is as above, preset mods which use a credit system to apply, but it has the facility to perform both manual long coding and adaptations. The app can also upload parameter sets as part of an app also. It can only be used while connected to the internet, and while connected it harvests information relating to everything you do while using it, from the actions you perform through to detailed information on your vehicle or any car you connect it to. I was asked to be the official UK reseller and declined.

If you can afford to buy your vehicle for 10k +, and in most cases here 27k plus, then you can afford another £250 for VCDS, a professional grade coding and diagnostic application with business class global support and more than 20 years at the top of the game.

Edit: Just to add to Carista... It also works with a number of different brands and not just VAG vehicles.

Got one of these just reset service light, adjust mirror when in reverse, turn off stop start, allow VIM.

Worth the money plus works on my brothers RS3 and sister Vw golf oil resets

I know you have somewhat bad experience with OBD11, but to say not using it correctly could be dangerous, then the same would also applies to VCDS??? The reason I like OBD11 isn't so much about the cost, it's the portability, I have it in my car at all time and can scan it anywhere if needed to, I haven't been carrying any laptop around in ages so just an Android is a big deal for me. I don't use their app much, and I've yet to run into any problem with long coding and adaptions. Been using it for 1.5+ years and it's worth every single penny IMO

The same but different..

Can damage be done via VCDS, yes but its not damage as such. You can make long coding or adaptation changes that could cause issues but 9 times out of 10, unless you have wiped a calibration that needs special equipment to reinstate, you can then view the change log and revert your changes all being well. While the same can be said of OBDeleven try changing back the a parameter set which an app has uploaded... You can't... end of story, and incorrect use can infect render a vehicle un-driveable. Reverting a change like this would be dealership tool process at £109+vat per hour here in the UK if Audi are doing the works.

VCDS and other windows based diagnostic tools including the dealership tool run perfectly fine on small and cheap tablets. Ok you need to carry a cable as opposed to a small dongle, but the difference in weight is a few grams which should not be a big deal.

ODIS, VCDS and Carista on the left / OBDeleven on the Right

Edit: Just to say... I actually love ODBeleven, gives me loads of business :)

Agree, have the Carista, and all I can do is needle sweep, and and couple other items. Caveat being this is on my 8Y Q5. Also got a OBD11, and can do WAY more, but it does cost!

Am I right that this ODB device only works via an Android app?

I have odb11 great little tool for the simple bits. I didn't need to long coding for what I needed. If I was going to do lots of playing around and lots of coding I'd go VCDS. But had no issues with the built in "apps" functions. Android daily so just put the little adaptor in glove box and that's all I need.

I agree with you, but you have to remember, majority of end user just code what they need and be done with it, I don't do long code and adaptions day in and day out. There're at least 100+ people using OBD11 in my local S3 group and I have yet to hear one single problem with them, not saying it's impossible, but if they go crazy and do stupid things to wipe out the calibration then those people would do just as bad with just about any other tools. And like I said, personally, I don't use their app, that's why I got the Pro version. Besides, you still have history of which app the person used, you can look up the codes and revert back manually if have to. Besides, you should always have a full backup anyway in case something like this happens, same for OBD11 or VCDS right?

Nice..... Thanks, when did you get the infor from?

My own research through several posts on this forum and other forums. I got this document where I write down the procedure for the coding, mark it with a yellow flag and then change the colour of the flag to either red or green when I have tested it. I'm just glad to help others :hi: I'm still trying to figure out how to control the LED strips on my Matrix lights but that seems rather difficult and @DJAlix is rather secretive about this :whistle2::icon thumright:

Well there is the thing, you have a group of users all playing off each other and their experiences which in turn has lead to next to no issues. There is a large percentage of people out there who don't know about or have no interested in groups and forums where information is shared. OBDeleven if used correctly is good but for the extra money a basic VCDS V2 is better. Why risk your vehicle for the sake of convenience and another £150.00?

Yes OBDeleven and VCDS have change / history logs and a backup facility of sorts but not everything OBDeleven does can be reverted. Long Coding and Adaptation maybe (these cannot always be reverted), like VCDS, but Parameter Data no way. In order to revert this you would need to effectively format the affected control module and then re-upload the parameter set in question which is something no 3rd party tool can fully complete, even VCP. It would be good if OBDeleven had some kind of forced introduction which details this so that people can make informed decisions about what apps to use.

Aside from what has already been said the biggest issue for me with OBDeleven is that it needs to be online in order to function. I understand the needed in order to process credits but its also because the client application needs to phone home in order to request that the backend server complete "requested" actions. Lets say the connection drops mid process? Bricked module, bricked car... Seen this happen, keeps my daughter in Peppa Pig toys :) The other main issue is that everything, and I mean everything that comes in to contact with that application is recorded. A complete recored of your vehicle is extracted and then uploaded to their servers overtime you connect. Its like it was developed by Mark Zuckerberg! The amount of information they are collecting is unreal. Ok this might help them develop the application, but only so they can add new "apps"... which in turn, the people who's information they used are then charged to use said new apps lol. Wish I had thought about this :)

I have to be unfortunately. Information which has taken me both time and in some cases money to workout stays with me. I have a lot of "professionals" follow me, here and on other platforms, in order to leech information. Some even pose as customers and try to watch what I am doing while I code their cars or install / retrofit hardware. Its why I only use one colour of wire during installations lol

I fully understand and respect your situation. You're already doing a good job helping coding peasants like myself :hi: Is it even possible for you to do remotely?

I do complete remote coding however it’s based around a rather expensive interface at the moment, something business only really have access to. I am working on a better solution at the moment but it is a true work in progress.

Here how to activate each one:

G Force Meter:
Click button right of the scan button
17-Instruments
Long coding
Acceleration
On
Save

Torque & Power:
Click button right if scan button
17-Instruments
Long coding
Engine data display
On
Save

G Meter is fun to use and looks cool but for some reason Torque & Power display doesn’t work I need work on it.

I have also activated Acoustic Alarm Beep on Lock/Unlock which sound quite cool.

For me OBD11 is worth every penny and I would not touch any settings I have no knowledge about.

Ahh I don't have virtual cockpit.

I had Carista, but OBD11 seems much better, also have exhaust flaps open

Don't waste your time trying to make this work. Unfortunately it only works on RS models.

There have been many other threads around this subject, but as this is OBDeleven thread, thought I would ask....

- Anyone get traffic/speed signs to display in colour DIS (Non VC and non Tech Pack).
- Is it possible to enable map/street view in Colour DIS? Appears to be possible as per below

thanks for reply, I believe the above image was from A4, so thought should work on MY18 Q5.

Appreciate I am in the wrong forum here

Actually... For whatever strange reason, power and torque meter works on FL 1.4 models but not on 1.8/2.0 or S3... Go figure....

When I enabled the g-force meter on my17 S3, I dont get the residual red outline around the center. Did you have to do anything special to get that?
