Hi.

As the title says, small port vs big port on a small frame turbo?
Frankenturbo f23 with a chinafold, to be exact

I've read all the debates over the years (been following the 1.8t "scene" for three years and read to many forum posts).

From my understanding the latest point of view is that a turbo of this frame benefits more from the small port head, than the big port.

Would you guys agree?
I'm making a new topic instead of deciding from the current posts about the topic since they all seem to be pretty indecisive about wether big or small port is the way to go.

The car currently has a big port head (with a small port inlet manifold tho) and i have a spare small port head, so money wise it doesnt matter. I can build a small port without having downtime on the car tho.

Like Bill said: small-port for relative modest builds, big-port if you want op open up top-end power with big-frame turbos. I'm selling a brand new WRC small-port dual plenum intake manfi, should you be interested!

Thank you for the input, then it seems i had reached the correct conclusion.

As far as i've understood exhaust valves are really only the weak link taking my power levels into consideration.

But since the head is gettin rebuilt i guess all new valves, springs and retainers + gettin it decked would be a nice healthy approach to it?
Will going +1mm valves give me anything in terms of power or just a easy solution to get nice valve seats?

Bluepower, i would be interested in that intake, send me a message :)

i dont see the benefit in oversize valves on a power level like that..
refresh all the valvegear is a good idea. none of these engines are new anymore. wear and tear is abundant

Thank you for the responses, they confirm what i thought which is always nice :)

If i ever go bigger turbo i guess it would be another refresh with the big port head anyway.
