Hi All

I have a 2.0l TDI A4 Cabriolet with the BPW engine, on Idle the car seems to shake, after about 20 secs is smooths out, however, it comes back if quickly going from cruising speed to idle (road works etc) and lightly shakes at 1500rpm

We have fitted a second hand injector because using VCDS (measure block 13) we identified that injector 1 had a high injection figure (more than -2.8 and 2.8)

We have also adjusted the injectors so the rocker arms have about 1mm of movement with each at TDC, before there was no movement on each

It still shakes, I think since the adjustment it's worse

Does anybody have a clue what's going on?

All help much appreciated

Thanks

No b6 with a 2.0tdi that'll be b7/8/9 mate but sounds very much like engine mounts to me, to test park the car and rev it a bit (in gear or out... I can't remember) will become completely smooth or shake like crazy (again I can't remember haha did this a long time ago), you can also visibly see the one which has leaked down the bay if you look hard enough and on some models it also shows up in a proper scan as it has a sensor on it, replaced mine with solid ones because race car.

If your stuck and anywhere near Birmingham drop it 'round ours I've got vag com and can test it... played with diesels for a while haha.

Thanks DieselJake

It seems I accidently put it in the wrong forum as I know mines a B7 (facelift)

When in or out of gear it makes no difference, also I would have thought if engine mounts it would be constant

The car runs fine, it just shakes

I didn't know they have sensors so this is an interesting point

Unfortunately I'm miles away from Birmingham but thanks anyway

Regards

Yeah it's the same, no difference

Now it seems not to start properly when hot, it misfires for 2 seconds then stalls, when cold it starts on the button, I have to crank for 5 secs for it to start hot

Thanks

The only thing I can think of for the hot starting is we had the fuel line off to attempt to drain the head of diesel

Nah mate you'll only notice the shake on idle with them.

If it's running funny might be best to start with swapping the fuel filter and cleaning/deleting the EGR, may as well swap oil and filter too, might sound like all these things are just common practice but one of my friends never services anything he owns and it makes me cringe.

Do the engine mounts adjust then to stop it shaking after a few seconds?

As you said I'm going to clean the EGR and see what happens, it's just been serviced and my dad thinks it could be fuel pressure causing the starting issue

All help is greatly appreciated guys

They don't adjust as such, you've basically got one side (or both) with fluid to dampen vibration but on the move this doesn't apply... I think because the engine is down or up or something like this but it's quite straightforward to spot (or it is for me anyway haha).

The 2.0tdi suffers with a few more problems than my trusty 1.9tdi unfortunately (many of which I haven't really looked into as obviously they don't apply to mine but the majority of these can also be found in the b7 section if your stuck).

Here is one of the b7 2.0tdi things off the top of my head: https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threa...e-definitive-guide-audi-vw-skoda-seat.140949/
