Gtechniq & Scratch removal

Hi All

Just hoping for a bit of advice to get rid of some unsightly scratches.

My B9 A4 Avant is 1 year old. Just after delivery it went in for a detail and had Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light / EXO top coat applied. This was all advice I had from a friend as I haven't a clue about such things and had never even heard of detailing previously. I've just got back from a holiday in Devon where many small country lanes with overgrown greenery has unfortunately and somewhat inevitably led to a couple of scratches. They are whitish in colour and from what I read are unlikely to have got through the serum.

So my question is, can I use a polish or other product to remove the scratches without removing the coating? Or is it likely that it will need to go back to a professional to be machine polished as the coating is so hard?

On my previous car I would have just bought some G3 scratch remover and had at it, but I think a more considered approach is required here given how much I invested in the original treatment!

Try some gtechniq Nano polish you can get it in a 50 ml bottle, ceramic coatings diminish through time like every other coating so it won't make any difference on a door mirror cover whether it's still there or not to be honest, the main thing is that you remove the scratch

As a side note, I washed the car this morning and I must admit, I'm not thoroughly convinced about the treatment my car had. It was several hundred pounds, it is supposed to last 5 years, but there are multiple fine scratch marks all over the car which do not buff out. What is the point of paying all this money for detailing if you end up with a load of scratches and blemishes anyway? (I look after the car well and wash it regularly using Gwash).

Ceramic coatings reduce the risk of fine scratches and swirls, but over time your car will collect them no matter how well the detail was done, yeah the Nano Gtechniq polish is a diminishing polish ie it corrects firstly then refines polishes after.... Just work it in gently for 3/4 minutes then remove, then do the same again mate it should refine the scratch until its no longer visible

Yea you’re always going to pick up fine scratches over time. What you will find though is that if you go for a detail top up, the fine sctratches are just in the coating, so easily removed by the detailer. My CSL was starting to diminish a little after 2 years, but as long as you keep it topped up with C2v3 or exo that will help.
