Door lock woes

I'm about to order a new lock assembly but before I do...

I can open and close the door using the interior handle fine, but the exterior handle wont work unless i've used the interior handle first, and works fine from then on in.....until I use the exterior handle whilst the door is locked and then only the interior handle seems to get it working again...

actuator time?

I dont have the part number but definitely time for a new lock assembly. Ive had to do 2 on mine so far.

my car does exactly the same the n/side rear door won't open on the key it is a common fault on Audi's , I just put up with it sometimes it works and sometimes it does not if youcheck out the forum it is quite common for people to ask this question.

Replaced the lock machanism today and it’s fixed the problem. Took about 40 mins from start to finish, and it’s a reasonably easy DIY job.

Certainly worth doing it yourself to save a few quid

Not when I do it; it costs twice as much as the experts at my garage then have to undo the damage I've done as well as do the original job.
