Long delays for new orders due to WLTP emissions testing

Yes it is often the case from one MY version to another that any changes that upgrade the spec before the car is built are provided for at no extra cost, if there has been a increase in the price of the car.

This is definitely true. But for my dealership it actually worked the other way in that the options I'd chosen got rolled into a package and the total cost came down by £200. So they gave me credit to spend on Audi kit!

Yeah normally it works the other way in that options have went up with a new MY model.

Just spoke to dealers again out of curiosity of reading the latest comments above, and he says that my car (ordered late April) will not be a facelift but will be MY2019 spec, with what ever free add on's that Audi decide to give ??, but as yet unknown. Facelift versions will be into 2019 before orders can be took for them. I have seen pics of the face lift with the 2 integrated fake exhausts like the A6 / Q5 (which I don't like tbh)
From what 2 dealers have told me, anything that is not now built is going to be much later in 2018 and most likely into 2019 before they arrive with customers and they will all be 2019MY with the minor facelift and whatever extra tech gets added as has been talked about in other posts.

Haven't we always known that the my19 would be a facelift and those cars will not arrive until early 2019?

Wow that's an understatement :openmouth:

I ordered my car 3rd of May and I've just been informed I can pick it up on Friday. I was however asked to sign a disclaimer today regarding the WLTP testing.

Basically says they don't know the values for the engine in the car so they are using the old figures. If the car is tested in the future the values may be higher and it may affect the tax bracket its in. Basically have to agree that they can't say what tax bracket it might be and if I don't I have to cancel the order. Not particularly happy since this wasn't explained when I ordered it but what are the real chances of the car being tested under WLTP? I don't know.

Once you car is taxed they can’t change it retrospectively?

I would of thought this was the case

I would presume its that if once it goes through the WLTP and its found to be worse on fuel or higher emissions you cant decide you dont want it and ask for a refund.

I dont see how it can effect any tax as it passed the relevant regulations at the time of registration. The same way my car registered in December wont change with regards to tax etc but if it was put through WLTP it would come out to be worse on fuel etc

I'd be inclined to agree. I don't know how they'd manage to pull that off so I imagine that the waiver is just to cover their backs rather than actually having any impact on you as the end user. :)

@kiter the MY2019 is the 2018 model. The MY date is always one year before the actual date with the facelift coming out later next year, that would make it a MY2020. MY dates run from June to June the following year.
I was contemplating ordering a new S4 but I have been told that delivery would be at least January next year and it would be a MY2019 and pre-face lift car.

Phoned the dealer today and asked for an update on this. He couldn't give anything concrete however he did say that it's likely if there was a delay in my order resulting from WLTP then he would have been contacted by Audi by now.

So taking no news to be good news, hopefully my order has fallen on the right side of the regulation change :)

Fingers crossed for you ! Can you advise again sorry when you ordered yours ? I'm still in the dark and mines was placed end of April due end of July / early August ? cheers,

I've posted this already in the sticky thread about tracking your order.
I checked the portal yesterday (my car was ordered 9th April) and it's now showing my order is cancelled! I haven't cancelled the order and rang my Audi dealer. They told me the order is still on their system and it may be due to a facelift model coming out earlier and replacing current orders.
I have messaged Audi customer services to get more info

Hi All,

Ive been following this thread for last few days. Our Lease runs out in October and was thinking of placing an order for another A4 Avant when new quarter begins in July. Not bothered about the delivery day as Audi Finance will temporarily roll on the lease until i get delivery of new car.
Question is will new car be MY2020 facelift or MY2019.

Thanks
Sal

Ordered on 1st May mate. I can see that Audi updated the status of my order on the Select portal on 7th June (i.e. after the regulation change) which appears to be a good sign as if there was likely to be a significant delay then it should have been highlighted then. I still don't have a definitive answer though obviously.

Hope all turns out OK with yours too! What is your dealership telling you at the moment?

What my dealer did say was that with relatively popular cars like the A4, the build date is generally literally right before the due delivery date as there's so many to process (not sure on how that works with QC and shipping etc but that's what I was told...)

Very lucky, I ordered mine end of April (A4), was told yesterday I might be lucky to see this before November!

I rushed through my order on May 25th (I was previously told an order in June would guarantee a start of September delivery which is when my current car goes back) to try and beat the WLTP delays. Slightly disconcerting that I’ve not got a build date but having read through the forums it appears this is quite normal.
Great tip on the tracker although this may add to my frustration if nothing happens for another 6 weeks or so!

Got a screen shot sent to me from the dealer over the weekend, which is from their internal Audi ordering system he said, it shows a section detailed as "original build" week dated as 201827 (I understand as ,2018, and week 27)
This is the first week in July, but then the section of "current build week" is blank and he advises that this means the factory have not confirmed the build... It does show on the Vehicle detail section as a MY18 (Not MY19) , and model type detailed as 8W2BFG version 1 ? If any one knows what that means ?
cheers,

Mine's showing as 8W5BEC Version 1 MY18. I think the type must depend on the spec? Mine's an Avant 1 .4 6 speed Black Edition.

Trying to get in touch with my dealer as I know they had a potential slot for me, but order wasn't yet submitted/accepted by Audi. Suspect this means I will be in pushed out a tad

Hi, mines on order is A4 Black edition 2.o TDI, 190, S tronic.,
I seen elsewhere that the 8W section relates to it being an A4 B9 variant. (But learning as I go along here)

Not sure what you mean, we're all B9's here...
Hi, sorry for confusion, it was this model code in the screen shot I got from the dealer that I wasn't sure about - 8W2BFG version 1
I believe the 8W part of this code refers to the car being a B9 variant.

(Don't know what the rest of the code means)

Yes that is correct, we are also 8W2BFG as far as I understand but not 100 % sure about the version 1 part. But I guess we must be that as well...

I'd have thought version 1 would be the original B9 version then perhaps the facelift model will be version 2 (or 1.5!)

Asked my dealer and he suggested that my order is accepted, but yet to get build week. He also said likely I would have to wait till October/November. Was he being honest and also i assume this is before any potential facelift.

This is what the dealer sent me. Has anyone had any joy with getting the dealers to provide vehicles to assist with delays.

Nope, I complained to Audi CS who got the dealers manager to call me. They said they'd look at what they had I stick with a similar spec but never heard back from them.

Mine is showing as a MY18 8W2BDG Version 2. The build week is 30, audi tracking shows it is due to be built on july 23rd...

Yes, I'm still on the first "dot" where it says "Welcome to Ingolstadt".

For me, the most annoying thing is the lack of information coming out of Audi.

So do we know what happens to the built cars at dealers sat without owners on the 1st September? My wife wants a new A5 not too bothered on spec really so if there is a deal to be had all the better

As I already stated in a previous post: " Other European countries have offered a grace period after the 1 September for manufacturers to sell pre-WLTP cars off, but the UK Government is yet to announce such plans."

This x 10. Their policy has always been to provide as little information as possible. Audi UK and respective dealers are treated very poorly by Audi Germany.
