I’m thinking of changing my B9 for a B9 S5 or S4.
What would people recommend?
I’m single and barely have anybody in my car so rear space not so much of an issue.
I’ve seen a nice S5 fully loaded in exclusive colour and quite fancy that.

I have an B9 S5 so maybe bias towards the shape and larger boot, but otherwise both S4 & S5 are very similar. They are expensive to run though, on average 20-25mpg or 18mpg if driven enthusiastically. Since you are single, a S5 coupe maybe an option??

I'm single at present but still bought the S5 Sportback as I don't like the massive doors on the Coupé, plus the practicality of the hatch is superb, I got an amrchair in there for a friend the other day, no chance of doing this with a Coupe or S4 saloon

I prefer the lines of the S5 to S4 and the S5 sportback wins out in both looks and practicality especially with privacy glass as it enhances the look IMO.

That does sound as though no "limitations" for you, so go S5, does look very good, and even better I am sure in Exclusive colour :icon thumright:

You are going to get biases here based on what people have already bought and therefore defending their purchases! However, as an S5 Sportback owner I can second that choice. Personally I think it’s the best looking version, with the benefit of being the second most practical (after the estate) due to the hatchback rear. Easily fits my two kids (or adults if I’m giving work colleagues a lift), plus loads in the boot

I have owned neither, but would love either, but think S5 looks WAY more sporty/individual, especially this one that has exclusive paint :yahoo:

Well spotted, I had it detailed before collection when new to save the dealers Sponge Monkeys destroying the paintwork.

I’m not sure about the Sportback tbh. It looks to me, like a big company directors car. It looks big compared to the S4 Saloon and S5 coupe. I think it would have to be the Coupe although I realise it’s not as practical as the Sportback. And the big doors on the Coupe will be a nightmare is parking spaces. My current A4 doors are bad enough and they are t nearly as big as the Coupes!

The S5 Sportback is on the A4 Platform, it's really not any bigger that you would notice than driving the Coupe or A4

Big Company Directors don't drive A5's of any description, they usually have an S Class Merc or Audi A8 etc

My Director has an RS4, I do work in automotive however, so the carpark is always lovely sight.

So the S5 you spotted in exclusive, SB or Coupe? To me Coupe's ALWAYS look sportier, but are generally rarer (not a bad thing) and in the case of the A3, no longer available I believe (3 door at least).

S5 like @Hammerhead does look the business tho!

Some cars just don't look right in 5 door, like the Mini (I would say that as wife has a 3 door JCW) :icon thumright:

I’m currently averaging 33.9 over the past 2000 miles on an S4 avant MY2018. You must be driving your S5 like it’s stolen to be getting low 20’s. even around town on stop / start I get low 20’s....

Love my S5, but hate pillar-less doors as they ALWAYS allow a bit of wind noise!

My previous 16 plate A4 was silent at speed, so I might opt for the S4 when renewing

I have an S5 coupe - it was the best deal at the time and if I was taking another I would take the same approach and take S4 or S5 depending on lease price.
I personally think the S4 Avant and S5 SB are the best looking of the four cars and ironically the most spacious.

Personally I love my S4 it looks great In Black with Chrome. Had plenty of comments from people saying how stunning it is. Again though it’s personal preference. S5 looks fantastic too.

I would quite happily have either

I used to be anti-4 door cars & always preferred coupe’s but the RS3 was sportback only & it’s converted me.

No more squeezing in/out the doors in my garage or tight car parking spots.

Could not go back to a coupe again now.

I would have the S4 saloon as just like the saloon styling ... but the S5 fastback looks nice too :icon thumright:
