Hi all,

Got an issue starting on my B8.5 2.0 TDI. Sometimes when the car is in start stop mode, when I push the clutch in the car doesn’t restart the engine, it constantly turns over until it stops completely and I have to manually start the engine.

I’ve decided, whatever is wrong is going to be expensive, so have been manually turning start stop mode off when turning on the engine. The car is going in for a service on Friday with local Audi independent - will they be able to turn off start stop mode permanently?

Car had only done 70k miles, so bit annoyed with issues this soon.

Thanks,

Jon

Yes, you can deactivate it via Carista or VCDS.

Think you can get Carista to flip the function of the off button, so every time you start the car it is already in the off position and pressing the button turns it on.

Module 09
Security access 20113
Adaption channel 34
Subtract 4 to turn it off as default or add 32 to use memory function.

Yeah deactivated mine with carista always off.

Can switch it on but never do.

Cheers for the responses.

Does it affect MOT at all if it’s turned off?

No not at all it still works if you press the button just reversed always off until you turn it on.

I’ve used many cars with start/stop an they’ve always only restarted when I’ve pressed the clutch. The Audi one seems totally useless as it cuts the engine for like 20 seconds then restarts it (even tho I’m still sat at the lights for example). I know it’s got many parameters it needs to meet to enable start/stop but why is it only the Audi system that seems to do this?

Could be a battery problem that’s causing your issue. But as said I’ve it permanently off via VCDS
