Hi guys,

What’s your favourite products and whole setup for a clean / detail? Whole setups please

Best

I think you're going to struggle to get a decent answer for this as everyone is different and it would take a while to type out a complete setup.

For example;
Hose pipe
Pressure Washer
Snow foam lance & snow foam
2 x Microfibre mitt for the car
Microfibre mitt for the wheels
Wheel Brush x 2
Wheel Woolies x3
Soft brush for details while snow foaming
Car wash
2 microfibre drying towels for car
1 microfibre drying towel for wheels
2 boxes of assorted microfibre cloths
2 shelves and 2 boxes of assorted paint cleaning, decontaminating, de-tarring, glass cleaning, paint protecting, wheel cleaning, wheel protecting, leather cleaning, carpet cleaning, dash cleaning, etc, etc products
Dual Action Polisher
6 x various polishing pads
Various polishing compounds
Empty bottles of ceramic coatings :)
Various pots of half used waxes
Carpet brushes
Vacuum cleaner
1 x P****d off wife
1 x extremely bad back
1 x empty bank balance

I'm sure there's loads I've forgotten.

The products in question are personal choices that everyone makes based on recommendations and experience. If you ask something more specific you might get a more sensible answer or if you have a lot of spare time to waste get reading on here www.detailingworld.co.uk

Nah ..... Not just 3 buckets

Haha. Have to say they are the buckets I use - standard issue B+Q job. I like them cos you can see the dirt gassing the orange. I have to say though, I’ve never really got the point in these grit guards: the gaps in them are huge! If you prewash the car properly, you should not have any debris of this size in your bucket! If you did it would be fairly concerning and you’d probably see it on the mitt.

The gaps in the grit guard don’t matter, as weight of grit will drop it to bottom of bucket

Yea exactly, so is there any point in them, just don’t put your mitt to the bottom

Basically they are a safe guard so that you don't put your wash mitt or a other to the bottom of the bucket, speaking of which the 2 bucket thing is ****** stupid and a expense you can easily avoid by rinsing your mitt with water from the hose your using, l only use 1 mitt and a mittpad to wash my car, previously to buying a wheel mitt l used a sponge for cleaning the wheel barrels it done the job but l did get the odd cut knuckle .... .l use a relegated incredimitt for washing the face's of my alloy wheels There's a lot of unnecessary products you really don't need in detailing, l have just gone and scrubbed/cleaned my tyres with a nail brush and some fairy liquid .... Bosh.....job Done cheap as chips as they say, no need to buy a APC or expensive over sized brush to do this, water filters are also uber anal yeah they save time and work but l prefer to use the time and work and save £100 plus, detailing sprays...........great to use for removal of smudges/fingerprints on yer car, some can even be used for cleaning your cars interior plastics...diluted of course, but this mixing detailing sprays is a load balls.
The best tools/weapons anyone can have in there detailing arsenal are high quality wash mitts/drying towels/shampoo/micro fibre cloths and buffing cloths and most of all a Dual Action machine polisher with high quality pads and polish...if your car has never been machine polished then you wont get what l mean to be honest

I’ve never got into the whole machine polished stuff myself coz my last car I had ceramic detailed from new, then a top up detail once a year so my paintwork was always pristine. So whilst I don’t machine polish myself I do pride myself on the standard of my car. Picking up my S3 in 2 weeks and that’s getting the full Gtechniq Ultra Black works, can’t wait. It’s a lot of wonga but it’s so worth it, makes keeping it clean so much easier and just unrivalled looks. I am BEYOND excited.

But I’m like you, I don’t go crazy on products, good quality mitts and drying towels etc and a solid wash routine and bobs your uncle.

£50 bangers....for a gallon..***....should do ya for a few years that mate....lol bulk buying on such products saves you money long term though.
l am off tomorrow to give me wee mums A1 a wee polishing with some S40 and then a wax UHD most likely, the paint work is in great condition so whatever fine scratchs it has S40 will remove them....No need for a compound polish...like S20 Black or the Sonax

Yea I can’t wait. Been on here a few years now since getting my first AUDI (the A3 saloon I’ve just sold), and I think ever since I got that I’ve ‘wondered’ about the S3. You only live once so just went for it. The Ara black edition just looks immense, and I still love the car as a whole even after 3 years which is why I’m happy to have a very similar car just with that added edge. I’m not a mega petrol head and the 150 TDI was easy quick enough for me: bang it in sport in the stronic and boom it was quick. I’m guessing I’m in for something altogether new in the S3 however.....?

And as sure as eggs are eggs there’ll be photos: can’t wait to see it with Gtechniq ultra and Exo on, it’s gonna be fairly special me thinks :)

At least you can still keep your polishing skills up on yer mums A1, as once you coat yours you will be done on S3

Ye can always remove them mate, but again they don't last forever a year that's it. .... Last winter probably put paid to a lot cars ceramic coatings there are still a lot of negatives surrounding them.... far from perfect like every other detailing paint product

I know, tongue in cheek comment, but a year is not long at all, I will be really disappointed if that is the case. Have been told that all that removes this one is a wet sand! Oh well, time will tell.

A ceramic coating can fragment in cold weather l saw it happen to my S3 sportback on the doors just above the shoulder line, car panels expand and retract as there meant to, but the ceramic coating can't, if l get a year out of mines I'll be happy

Gtechniq Ultra meant to be good at combatting this due to a softer more flexible base layer. Will see how it goes :)

The coating I have UNC-R is apparently rubber or has rubber in it which allows expand and contract, time will tell. @FranA3 has a number of clients with 18 months and climbing on longevity.
