I find it crazy how the S3s don’t come with homelink “-.-

For those who don’t know it’s the button that is installed in cars that you program to open your garage without having to use your garage opener.

Anyone know if there is anyway to get it in an S3? Or are we just out of luck?

If you have prestige level trim, then you will not have it as clearance issues with the upgraded driver assist camera. I did read on here that someone was able to retrofit one into his car by ordering the switch and cutting into the headliner. I believe the connector was located behind the overhead light cluster.

Thanks for the reply! But yea I did see that post a while back. Hopefully someone comes out with a kit. Maybe we can put that “button” beside the parking brake to use or something.

Read on here recently about ITTT app that enables you to open it from your phone, if that's any good to you.

Yes but what about the transmitter, they're usually fitted behind the grill, of which is unlikely to be fitted on non homelink cars & the whole system I've fitted before isn't cheap tbh.

App idea is cool if no net issues, as then you're screwed if no remote lol.

Other issue is it may need the interconnect to talk between the Audi homelink implementation & the door system as not all do talk without an intermediary.

Very helpful. Just curious, but roughly how much would it run to get it fitted? Its just I hate having to explain to my passengers that this nice car with a virtual cockpit cant even open my garage without the garage opener haha

I'd have to do a proper quote tbh, check etka & r&d the 8v homelink for the specific year, but iirc the homelink module alone was hundreds let alone button, wiring etc, against a cheap £30 remote this is why so many people with lovely cars stick with the remote, the cost difference is fairly huge, I'm all for I want it integrated but that's cause I install the systems lol, if I was not then I'd find it hard to warrant the cost.

Am I missing something here? How is using your phone any more convenient than the plip. I would have thought less so, as you would have to bring up the app first?

True, I mean the only way I see it being beneficial is if it showed up on apple car play !

I can see why the car doesn't have it.

I know nobody who parks in a garage. And I'm including people with double/triple garages too.
