Had the S4 2011 with 50k on the clock 4 weeks now. Thankfully it has extended warranty.
During these 4 weeks the ventilation cover (£930) and DSG mechatronic (£2,000 circa) have had to be fixed with me forking out £250 excess each time.

Do I keep her or jog her on!?!?!?!?

You’ve already spent a small fortune on modifying it. Move it on now and that’s all dead money and you won’t have had any benefit from the mods.

I swerved tje remapping so extra costs so far are
Steering wheel
Tints
Front grill

Plus it’s now got two major repairs sorted. It’s already a better car than it was when you bought it.

You could buy another S4 and have to repair the ventilation cover and DSG mechatronic again. I would keep it for now.

I vote for keeping it too, you've now fixed this issues so hopefully you won't need to again. Buying another motor could result in the same or other issues. Did you buy it from a dealer? I would have thought if all these issues appeared during the first month, the dealer should fix them without you having to pay the excess?

Purchased privately

So you are undecided about keeping your car, but are also asking about alloy wheels for it.

Think you have made your own mind up.

I have been helping my son look for one for a long time. The problems with the box seem too common and even when fixed its still not the revised version.Last one we looked at had a failure at 30k so the owner was selling when it was about 60k.Makes you wonder.

So will you still buy an Audi?

I’ve had range rovers, Cayenne, BMW, ML63s and never had any serious issues other than general maintenance.

Maybe I’m just unlucky.

Part of me wants to move away from Audi

I think he will.Already has an S3 TT quattro roadster and I have 2.5tdi Quattro Avant none of which have given such concerns. He says the later B8.5 S4 has a sound gearbox but means finding more money. On balance I dont think its worth taking a risk which is too big to be ignored. No model is bulletproof.Look at the recent BMW recall seems hard to believe they would make such a mistake. We have a 70s Triumph Spitfire in the garage which were supplied to dealers with a long list of minor things that might fail.

I did have an S3 before but after one week 3 masked men tried breaking the door down to take it. We were all at home when it happened and captured it on CCTV.

I sold the S3 back to the showroom straight away!

Clearly this thread has gone way off topic and the mods have had to delete stuff. It happens. I for one think it's a tough job but am very grateful they do it as it keeps the tone civil. There are far too many forums that are outright offensive full of trolls and unhelpful sniping. Keep it up mods!

Cars back with me after they replaced the mechatronic unit at a cost of £1,000.
Am now looking at supercharged Range Rover sports circa £20k
