Hey guys, searched the fourms but cant find anything similar, other then anouther guy who said his car judders during all low rev range, the answer to that was the MAF?

But anyway, on a cold start up the car seems to judder /hesitate a bit threw the entire rev range and into the high gears, however after a minute or so its fine. I'am thinking it might be this MAF sensor or maybe the brakes are locking up slightly and causeing it to judder and releasing a bit after driving , but the weather has been hot and there is no moisture in the air so i cant think it can be that.

coolant temp sensor is likely cause of this. If its reading incorrectly and thinks the engine is warm when it is actually cold this will stop the fast idle causing the judder.

The temp gauge on the dash seems to read correct though, or wouldent this matter?

check the sensor and see if its black or green. Change it if it is black. The temp gauge does not give a true temp reading. Only way to properly check would be to have a look at the measured value block using VCDS to see what its reading. There was a point in my work were i was fitting at least one of these a day to 8L with the exact same problem. Its somewere to start and is the cheapest option

Sounds like my problem too :(

My car was doing the same thing on start up until i read the other guys thread about it being the MAF. I checked my MAF readings when i got my liquid gauge and realised it was down. I bought a new MAF and the car has been fine since then.

Have you tried unplugging the MAF and taking it for a wizz to see if it feels better? If it does feel better then it means you need a new one. I did the same thing and my car pulled alot better when i unplugged it!

To be fair it could just be me, the feeling of judder and hesitation is so small, how do i remove the maf, is it on the how to quide? I took it to audi, they couldent find anything wrong on the cold start up, so it might just be me being a prat lol

So within that is the MAF?
My issue is on a cold start up the car judders slightly with no effect on the rev - that's idle.
Like it's trying to pull fuel from the back and then judders...

So maybe I'll take out the MAF and then see what it does on a cold morning?
This won't cause any dash lights to come on and stay on after its plugged back in or replaced will it?

The bit the finger (not mine)is pointing to is the maf un plug the electrical connector to it and see if it makes a difference

Oh OK- but the pic doesn't show the electrical connector right? You're pointing to the metal ring (sorry don't know the term used for that).

No the maf is the one with blue arrow (black plastic)beside the jubilee clip and the yellow arrow is the electrical connector for the maf, I’ve not took the picture it’s just one that came up on google Altrincham I think it was on this site
