Picked up my factory order SQ5 today 5.5 months after ordering. Was very pleased with the carbon inlays and the general interior quality. Also the stock 20 inch rims with air suspension delivers a magic carpet ride in comfort mode which is exactly what I was looking for.

I'm having a bit of Wifi setup trouble with the Audi UTR dashcams and I have not been able to fully set up the myAudi remote services, both might necessitate a trip back to the dealer.

Overall though I'm happy and looking forward to the car being detailed and ceramic protected at the weekend. Some pickup pictures below, I'll post more when it's been detailed.

Hey @q5man it’s only been a day and I won’t get any time in the car now till Saturday :( but initial impressions are positive.

My detailer has options of Siramik Glasscoat APT or Gyeon Quartz Mohs Plus. Will go with what he recommends based on my distinct laziness when it comes to car care!

You have lots of kit to configure/play with. I get your comment about the car care laziness, have mine belatedly booked in for correction, detail and ceramic on 14/06. Mythos Black (wife’s only stipulation) is a nightmare for showing everything. Personally I would have chosen your colour..Daytona

Funny my wife was saying she wished we had gone for Moonlight Blue now she’s seen Daytona. I told her the car was looking extremely flat as it’s only had the travel wrapping removed and been jet washed down.

How much correction do you think your car will need before the coating? If you don’t mind me asking, what have you been quoted?

Usually a quick stage 1 pass machine polish is sufficient to correct unless there’s any damage inflict my the dealers prep.

My gen1 Q5 I had was moonlight blue, a lovely colour but don’t think you can get it anymore. Daytona will look good when detailed and coated

Moonlight Blue is still a S/Q5 option. The one I really liked the look of was Utopia Blue, but it’s the one colour you can’t get the SQ5 in :(

Ah ok, had read elsewhere no longer option on A4 I think. Daytona a good choice, but do like sepang, but don’t think that is available anymore either.

SQ5 is with my detailer getting Siramik Glasscoat, 2 layers; SC-HR (Heat Resistant) base with SC-Ultima layer on top and then a 3rd layer called Diamas Professionali. The Diamas is marketed as containing diamond like properties, we’ll see how it turns out when I get the car in a couple of days!

I was keen on Gyeon, which was more expensive. However my detailer reckoned the finish and longevity on the Siramik is better...

Looks spot on mate! Are you happy so far?

Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Just two tech niggles with getting Audi Connect setup (remote services not working yet) and an issue with messing up the WiFi for the dash cams (isn't stopping them from recording and I can get footage off the SD card without WiFi working). Might have to pop into the dealer to get them both sorted.

Otherwise the driving experience has been great, am running it in properly so 80 out of 500 miles done. 500 to 1000 I'll start having a bit more fun ;)

I thought is might annoy me and I do miss the 4 chrome pipes in other S Cars, but I’m actually not too unhappy. My detailer said it would be much easier to keep clean! I also think the down firing actual exhaust pipes have a very distinctive sound that is different from the S4 and S5.

that is a good point, and also makes washing the "rear end" easier, at least that is what I tell myself. My wife is about to get a Mini Cooper JCW, so will no doubt need to stock up on autosol

I know, great fun, and very different to Q5, which is good.

Did my first significant runs in the SQ5 over the last two days. 250 miles averaging 30mpg, average speed around 40mph. I'm keeping the car under 2.5k rpm and avoiding kick-downs. I'm taking it so easy that my wife is telling me to accelerate more quickly Am up to just under 400 miles and so well into running the car in. Can't wait to tick off the next 600 miles before I can start exploiting the acceleration potential a bit more! Question, is normal operating temperature for a SQ5 around 92C? Once run in, the suggestion is to have the car at operating temperature before giving it full beans.

The car is a really comfortable motorway cruiser with air suspension in Comfort mode. I had one very hairy moment when the person in front of me in the outside (4th) lane of the M25 (clockwise around junction 21) decided to do a full emergency stop from 70 to stationary. I braked before the pre-sense kicked it and deployed full anchors stopping about 5 metres short of the car in front. I'm not sure how close the car behind me got, but the stopping power of the SQ5 is stunning. There was a tiny bit if ABS judder just before full stop and the car was fully under control.

The car tech continues to impress. Traffic jam assist has kicked in a few times in slow moving motorway traffic. Pretty assured and removed a lot of traffic stress. Virtual Cockpit, 360 camera and Carplay continue to be revelations in usefulness. I've used pretty much all the options that I added to the car and so I'm still happy with my choices.

I'm coming up with reasons to drive places over the next 2-3 weeks to complete running in!

Hey @CC-SQ5,

My UTR WiFi is still not working. Audi had the car for two days and couldn’t reset the WiFi back to factory either. I told them I wanted the camera unit swapped and they wanted more time to consult somebody. I also said I wouldn’t be leaving them the car again, they can take the camera and work out how to reset it if they want to try again. Pity as the actual camera is working well, just the WiFi connection from the app is not functioning.

Am not dwelling on this one minor negative, as the car overall has been really good so far.

That's an actual nightmare you would think they would just swap it out straight away. I would check your rights as you may be able to demand as the product isn't fit for purpose and is probably deemed as faulty so naturally you would return for a replacement.

I've been patient, given them some time. Will turn up the heat this week.

Have also ordered Q5 branded boot liner and front and rear rubber matts for £155, not bad quote as I was going to pay upward of £80 for just the original boot liner. I'm not a snob, so the lack of SQ5 branding won't bother me :p

I'm still in awe of the Audi'ness... I'd forgotten what you get when you pay more than £40k for a car. No disrespect to my GLA, but it was made to a sub £37k budget, even the GLC 320 CDI I tried was made to a higher standard than my GLA was but not as good as the Q5. God willing all the miles are do in it are safe and stress free!

I got mine thrown in with car (boot liner and rubber matts - in addition to carpet mats).

Also finally got my roof bar bag yesterday, told them I was happy to pay for this, as been a few months since I got the car. Sales Manager had it dropped off at work...nice touch :thumbs up:

Have often tried Merc when changing over cars, but never felt they were as solid, and not a fan of the interior, which is where all your time is spent. Audi's are so say not as involving a drive as BMW etc, but great place to be.

Nice bonus thrown in the rubber mats and load liner. My roof bars came with their bag. My bonus from the dealer was some Audi branded cleaning products and a microfibre in an Audi pouch/bag.

Too busy at work, have not progressed past 400 miles yet. I need a plan to go somewhere at the weekend to get over the 600...

After 3 months with the SQ5 I’ve barely broken it in with only just over 600 miles on the clock and around 80% of those on the motorway or 2/3 lane A roads.

On my 150 mile round trip today I experienced the benefits of the oleophobic coating on the windscreen, even tiny water droplets were running up the windscreen without smearing :) I have done 99% of my driving in Comfort and being very gentle pulling away and keeping the revs below 2.5-3k. Once I hit 1000 miles I’ll play a bit more with Dynamic/Individual. On a motorway run driving super sensibly I’m getting over 30mpg (9-10 l/100km). Average measured independently of the DIS is 23mpg caused mostly by a terrible 2 hour traffic jam in 32C heat where I averaged single digit mpg keeping the A/C running.

I’m getting the hang of getting this wider car in and out of my garage with a bit more confidence. I have about 8-10cm clearance either side of the opening, the birds eye 360 degree camera helps a lot lining up straight before I back into the opening.

CarPlay is still brilliant and the Virtual Cockpit also gets better the more I’m getting used to it. Radar cruise and lane keep assist my distance driving extremely comfortable and relaxed. My rear seat passengers have been enjoying the light and airy cabin facilitated by the panoramic roof.

The only annoyance left with the car is that is flatly refuses to open the boot when I wave my foot near the bumper. My wife laughs at me when I try, I’ll try the instructions from the manual one more time before I bother the dealer with it.

Wow, that is some low mileage after 3 months. I only have a 5 mile drive to work every day, but because we live in the Country, do about 800-1000 per month. Helped by the fact we have 3 teenage boys that need ferrying around. Had my Q5 since end of March, and on 5500.

I have only actually drove mine for around 2 or 3 weeks since picking up, and done 1200+ miles. Haven't driven it in nearly 2 weeks due to being in Thailand on holiday.

I have had some idiot dent the car already! Be putting pics up on my own post when I'm home!

In the process of trying to touch up and polish out.

This is current state ( polished before repair, then panel wiped). Once properly dried will polish again, panel wipe, clear coat and polish. Worth a try.
