Any body had any luck getting rid of the oxidation on the chrome effect on around the windows?

No the finish is some kind of paint effect and cannot be fixed only option is to replace them or get them wrapped.

I attempted using autosol metal polish amongst other products but found this the best, only on the upper trim and around the rear 1/4 glass (avant) that is. The door weather strips seem to be a differwnt finish possibly anodized? I couldn't remove or improve unfortunately so going down the wrapping route!

There is a chrome wrap which I’m going to give a go! Might look awful but hey ho. Personally not a fan of the black wrap. Kinda takes the point away of being a prestige model.

I had considered a chrome but thought it may look abit naff. Im only going black due to repairing and painting my grille surround and fancy powder coating to roof bars, but each to there own. Good luck anyway! Its a massive ballache getting it bang on!

So given the chrome tape a go. Worked pretty well. Glad I did it now. The tape is called maniac chrome stripe! Tricky to put on but if you take your time it comes out really well. I can’t emphasise enough that the trim has to be ultra clean. I used surgical spirit after cleaning with dish detergent. Really pleased with the results.

Thanks buddy, unfortunately i spat the dummy out and pulled it all off in a tantrum as it wasn't quiete up to my anal standards! I used a cheap 2m long roll off ebay, aroung 15 quid, I will re-attempt this when my will to live comes back!

Yea it’s not bad but the ends are very difficult. I’m gonna practice those. It’s does look good though. Pleased with it. Better than the black in my opinion.

It took me 3 attempts to do one of the weather strips, i found the best ways to do the ends was to apply a small amount of heat and stretch it in as many angles as your fingers can handle!

Looks a good job. Any pics close up, on those ends that caused the grief?

I dont have any pics unfortunately due to pulling it all off in a tantrum, only the two i posted. I will hopefully be trying this again at some point.

From watching a few vids on the net, some wrappers cut a small infill piece and stick to the end then wrap over it to prevent any chrome breaking through if this helps
