Front wheel bearings

Hi,
Am new to the forum but hoped that some experienced Audi owners might be able to help me.
My A6 reached its 3rd birthday in January and has done about 35000 miles. I had the front driver side wheel bearing replaced under warranty last May as it had started to make a noise. The same wheel bearing has now gone again, I've only done around 8000 miles on it. Is this a normal thing to happen? Audi garage are suggesting I've caused it myself but 2 bearings within a year seems excessive, I'm a careful driver. I have been told that I must have hit a pothole, my tyre is absolutely fine though and potholes are usually on the left hand side of the road!
Am loathed to pay for a replacement bearing and suspect I am being fobbed off!

Have any other Owners experienced similar with a wheel bearing?

I've had similar issues as well. Car needed OSR bearing at 43K which Audi replaced under warranty - touch wood that's been ok since.

Front however is a different story - NSR replaced at 59000 miles by indie, started being noisy again at 74000 (9mths after) - indie replaced the hub as well as the bearing this time due to premature failure. 5000 miles later, it went again at 79000 which my indie did under warranty thankfully two weeks ago.

I had the same issue on my last A4 needing two front wheel bearings (coincidentally the A4 B8 and A6 C7 Quattros use the same bearing part code). My indie has tried different bearing brands as well but seems to have made no difference. The design of it just seems poor.

Try skf next time Audi have a problem with bearings last years oem bearing made bij fag have construction problems
I changed mine at home both of them front with skf

Wow that's a lot of trouble with bearings! Seems like I am not alone in the problem then. Mine isn't covered under a warranty anymore apparently, am really worried that this is going to cost a lot especially if it's a common fault

If Audi won't sort them out would you recommend me having them done somewhere else with a different brand or sticking with Audi to replace? Do they offer a different brand or just fag?

Audi use only fag wheel bearing and they ask a lot of money to change wheel bearing al most 360 eur for one wheel bearing .try a normal garage its just wheel bearing No thing special

When Audi did the bearing on mine, I asked the cost had I paid for it and it was £508.00 Inc. everything.

My local indie charged me £175 for the bearing and £140 for when they did the hub the 2nd time (the bearing itself they did under warranty).

I had another quote from an Audi specialist locally and they wanted £250 for just the bearing.

All of these prices are for one corner only so if you get multiple failures, it starts to add up

So far between the two cars I've had bearing issues on, I've gone through 5 wheel bearings at £175 a go plus the one under warranty!!!

Many times I have debated trying this myself but with no press not sure how DIY it is.

I did watch that video but did feel it was missing some steps and in addition he has a hub and bearing assembly together which Audi discontinued.

So my a6 has been into garage today and they said they have listened to both front wheel bearings with a stethoscope and picked up some rumbling of the passenger side wheel bearing.
they have also noted that both front wheels are buckled apparently although i have just had 2 screws took out of the drivers side tyre on 2 separate occasions and the tyre fitter didn't notice this and balanced the wheel no problem.
£2100 for 2 new wheels which i kindly declined.

They have said they cant guarantee the noise will go away as might be the buckled wheel causing it lol

I've told them to just fix the wheel bearing under the warranty and i will get in touch with the garage i bought the car from to complain about the wheels being buckled, see how far i get
