Hi Everyone,
I've just picked up my new S3 and i would very much like to to add Speed cameras POI. I read through all the tread but i'm still don't understand how to do it. I have an account with Pocket GPS world, but i don't know where and which files to download.
Please help...

I think I just downloaded as CSV. So from https://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras#compatibility
At the top I see a place to download."Select the database you require" ..
Sat nav system : OTHER-CSV
Camera selections : UK consolidated by type (gatso, mobile etc)
Then from the Audi Connect website you can upload the CSV files and the icons (there are some better ones on page 2? Of this thread if you are bothered).
So i tried to upload POI for speed cameras on a facelift car with mixed results.
I have been sucessful with creating the files for each speed canera and then sending them to the car. However you cant alter the zoom level.
I have therefore followed the guide, downloaded the data and changed the zoom level in the categories file. Placed the two files as per below onto both a memory stick and a USB stick to create a manual update.

I know others have been sucessful on FL cars so what am I doing wrong? I have tried different SD cards , different USB sticks and nothing works.

Check post #276 - it is because the checksums and file size of the original categories.pc file do not match those in the hashes.txt after you have edited it.
Aaah.. OK so as zoom level is changed to 30 from 9 things don't match.
Ok thx @TonkS3 for pointing me in this direction. I have used Hashtab to verify the checksum of the file and you are correct it is different. However how do I change the value and where exactly is this done? There are multiple checksum figures in the hashes.txt file if I view using notepad and none of them seem to match the figure reflected in properties, so I am a bit lost what I need to change and how to do it.. Although atleast I now know where the problem is !.
I presume that as I have downloaded all of the camera types into one large file I can just change the checksum to match in one place? Or do you have to download each and every camera separately and change checksum info for each one ??
Apologies if these seem daft questions, but checksums / hash values are a whole new ball game for me.

You only need to change the values that are related to catagories.pc as that is the only file you have edited. In hashes.txt there will be a line that looks something like:
FileName = "categories.pc"
FileSize = "3161"
CheckSumSize = "524288"
CheckSum = "DA9F37FBF2FB634C85FE8744223B2EB677B72305"
You need to change the filesize and checksum lines.
Enter the bytes figure from the catagories.pc general tab of properties for filesize.
Use the SHA-1 hash value for catagories.pc and replace the existing value that is in hashes.txt

Thank you for the clear guide. I edited just the line that mentioned the categories file in the hash file using notepad. As you stated I changed the file size and then copied the new hash value and bingo it works !

Hi all, I have an 17 plate A4 S line, can I update the sat nav to include speed cameras.
I do know my way around a pc, but how difficult is it to update, would I have to change the zoom levels etc
One thing I would say is I have a tom Tom and that is brill, but obviously I have an Audi sat nav so really don’t have room for my Tom Tom.

Yes have google earth, but u need to use standard map setting/view to see speed cameras. Google maps does not overlay POi speed cameras.
Need a software engineer to come and fix it haha, seems like something has changed on the PocketGPS website though as from Mcadddy's source code it says....

}I just tried to update my POIs the normal way though and it is saying it can't find an update on the usb .. stupid thing. Not sure if that means there is a problem with the usb and the car reading it, or a problem somehow with the format of files etc..

All, reading through this, I am confused (not difficult) as to whether I can install the camera DB from pocketgpsworld (paid the £20) onto my MY18 Q5 with Standard Navigation. Can someone clarify please if they don't mind?
Depends if your ‘ standard nav’ on Q5 allows you to install updates. If its an SD card or DVD based system the above thread/ posts are not for you. If its a hard drive based system and you have previously been able to install updates then maybe you will be able to use the POI route.

I raised an issue on github and mcaddy has fixed the issue so v0.9.1 is working without errors

Deffo seems much quicker than doing it manually!
One thing I noticed in the categories file the zoomlevel max= is set to 48, I think when I did it manually I srt to 30 .. but what does it even do? just show the icons when you zoom out further..?

I have signed up for PocketGPS but I don’t currently have a laptop (My MacBook is being repaired) and I can’t do the files downloads and editing on my iPad. I have a FL RS3 so can do it online if I could get the files up and down again.

I have just had the software on my MMI updated to fix the missing subwoofer control issue. It seems that now I have Speed Camera POI displayed on google maps not just the generic maps !

i already have the cameras installed as POI but wanted the zoom level changed, would i need to remove the existing cameras first then try the upload again?Any help appreciated

Does anyone know how it actually does this?
Say when you upload for the first time there is a GATSO on road A. But when you upload cameras a few months later, that camera has been removed from the database. Would doing the update remove this camera (writing over what is already there) or would it leave the camera and add new cameras (merging data) ?
I imagine it just writes over for each different type (gatso, spec, mobile etc) so if you only update one type the others are left alone.

oli356 managed to get mcaddy to update his program so you could try this and it should work.
Just subscribed to Pocketgpsworld and using the App by mcaddy version 0.9.1 , I successfully installed the speed cameras which show on Google Earth as well. This method was a no brainer for me as it automates the whole process.
So most of us are subscribed to this website which gives us the list of cameras, think you create a login then pay to be a member. £10?May someone help me with this? I am so confused and I am not tech savvy. I would legit pay someone £20 for helping me get this speed camera detector on my MMI.

Then you can run the application (need Windows computer) , it's simple, you just login and it creates the files you need. Then you need to put these files onto a USB stick / SD card, plug into car. Then in the settings somewhere you can find the option to update the system. It should then detect the files on the USB / sd card and should be done.
On some cars though you can send the data over Audi Connect but I'm not sure on which cars and how this is done.
Hopefully not too vague, not at my computer to double check the process.

Ive just successfully installed all the files and all the speed cameras icon are showing up in my google maps using the links above. However i come across a problem where sometime when i get to a camera location the icon does not show up on my main or virtual cockpit display unless i change the zoom level and it then reappears again. I'm i done something wrong?
Also is it possible to set a sound notification when you almost get the a speed camera? If so how can this be done?

There has been discussion on the sound notifications, not sure if there is something in the settings on the MMI for FL cars, I don't have one so can't comment.
So my zoom level is set to 30 and I haven't had any issues. I think the mcaddy app makes it something different, so it might be worthwhile trying 30.
You need to edit the categories.pc file which is in ... PersonalPOI\Package\0\default , just open it in notepad.
and then make all references of zoomlevel max to 30.

Update....everything is now working and is working well. Got to be the Best £20 i spent so far this year!

Its very easy, I installed it onto my friends car using my files yesterday.
1. Go to https://www.pocketgpsworld.com and sign up the fee is £19.99 paid through Paypal
2. Plug a usb and sd card in your Windows pc or laptop
3. https://github.com/mcaddy/audipoi/blob/master/Releases/SpeedCameraToPoi/v0.9.1.zip?raw=true download Mcaddy on a Windows pc or laptop and sign in using your Pocketgpsworld details and download the files you want
4. Plug the usb or sd card into your car (inside the armrest)
5. Go to Audi connect in your MMI and Software update option and select your usb or sd card and you done!
