About 3 weeks ago I sold my Porsche Boxster and bought an S5 cabriolet. Late 09, 41k miles, 1 owner from new, Audi fsh. The dealer was going to have it serviced at his favourite back street garage, but I put in the £100 it would have cost me for an inspection and he got it serviced at my choice of garage Russell Automotive Centre in Kingsbury, NW London where I've been with previous Audis and my wife's VW Touran.

My previous Audis, chronologically were an A4 cab, a Mk1 TT 3.2 coupe and a Mk2 TT 2.0 Fsi convertible. Between the TTs there was a sojourn with a Jaguar XK8 convertible, and after the 2nd TT an early 996 Porsche tiptronic (which I didn't like) so swapped it for the 987.2 Boxster which I loved. But it was a manual and my wife only has an auto licence, which meant we weren't using it for longer trips. Also my bad back meant it was getting harder to get into.

So far loving the S5. The day after I got it we drove from London to Skye (600+ miles with a stopover by Loch Lomond). The kickdown was great for getting past slow moving A road traffic in Scotland, where straights with decent visibility are often in short supply. The real world performance is as good as the Porsche, although the handling isn't quite up there, but a compromise worth it for the greater practicality.
