ATF oil same as gearbox?

ATF oil, is this the same as gear box oil?
I only ask as my gearbox oil was changed at 36k miles and I’m wanting to remap my car.

Is a gearbox service only the change of oil?

Different. ATF fluid is used for the mech unit and gearbox oil for the actual mechanical gears.

Audi itself recommend ATF fluid be changed. The gear oil along with differential oil should be good for 50k miles.

Full gearbox servive includes the oil and filter.

This. 40K is the interval for Multitronic CVT boxes.

@andyay123 in the other thread where you provided a photo of your invoice - here - and it only showed the parts for the engine oil change. If there's another page you could show we can confirm that it was ATF. Should be about £90 worth of oil and filter.

Invoice shows 69.23p for gear oil

I will ensure I get the ATF done when mapping gear box

I took mine toa VW dealer

Mine was through Audi main dealer
Just states 36k miles gear box oil change

The guy I purchased it from took it to Audi main dealer for last 7 years. Before that Audi owned it so I’m only the 3rd owner.
