it’s a week old today and I noticed at the weekend there is an annoying creaking from somewhere inside the car around the rear parcel shelf.. I took the rear seats down and it’s more prominent... I can’t find it when stationary and I think it’s somwwhere under the parcel shelf...

Any ideas..

Booked in garage in Friday, hoping they can sort fairly quickly as it’s taken the enjoyment away for now... Grrrrr, ****** cars....

Coming from one side?

I had something similar or the same coming from the area where the parcel shelf meets the pillar trim, it actually went away on its own and has not come back yet!

No groaning here, perfectly happy. It has been noted that when the rear door seals get dry they can make a fair few noises, and had that with other cars I owned.
But with yours being under the parcel shelf I would get someone to ride in the back with the seat down and see if they can identify the area its coming from...

Just dropped into Audi on my way past and they did exactly that, I drove and the master tech sat in the rear with other seat down, he tried a few things and then put some lube on the lock, no joy... so back to the original appointment on Friday.

Well that's one good thing, I believe that some have experienced creaking being caused by the rear window or its side trims...

Any update on this please? I've had the same problem for a couple of weeks. Thanks in advance.

The most annoying noise ever!

My car has been in with the dealers for 4 weeks this Tuesday for the same rear knocking/creaking noise. Mine as I suspect is inside the tailgate, sounds like some trims.

They have replaced the tailgate motor, still did not cure the noise.

They removed all trims and insulated all wires and trims, still did not cure.

They removed tailgate lamps to check clips. No issues found.

This week adjusted the tailgate and the tailgate release latch. Seems to have cured the noise but caused another fault.

When releasing the boot the latch is now making a horrible loud noise which almost sounds like the boot is struggling to release.

Reported to Service Manager who has said if they readjust the latch and the noise comes back they will no longer work on my car.

Quite bizzare, the Service Manager wants me to accept this new fault as it cured the knocking noise.

I have complained to the Dealer Principle who is now investigating.

Surely this is not acceptable?

In my opinion I think the DP will not help. Worst service ever at this Centre.

Audi Erdington avoid at all cost!

My car has been sat for weeks without being touched.

Surely they are not the worst. They’ve tried. Fixed the initial issue. Seems like a design flaw. I find the boot difficult to shut. Really have to slam it.

Well they had a look as above but it’s going in on Tuesday ‘until it’s resopvrd’ It’s so frustrating- I’ll keep you all posted

Have to spoke with Audi UK and made an official complaint ?

I guessyou have a Avant so your issue isn't the same as some are having with their saloons?

Yes made a complaint with Audi UK who are also useless. I have been told if I am not satisfied with the works and once the 8 weeks have passed then I will need to contact the Motors Ombudsman.

Audi have 8 weeks to come up with a resolution or give the dealers a chance to put things right.

8 weeks is a bit excessive considering this Tuesday my car will have been in for 4 weeks and they've done almost 100 miles in road testing.

I would like to bring this up as a point but I have no proof of the milage when I dropped it off.

Worst service. Do not return my calls. Do not keep me in the loop and up to date. Constantly chasing them for answers. I agree, seems as though they have fixed initial fault but created another one. Tried handing the car back to me with the justification that at least your initial fault has been cured.

They would have recorded the mileage going in, although they would point to having to drive in real world conditions. Seems excessive mileage though

Fair enough.

I had an annoying creaking coming from the boot, I got the wife to drive as I was in the back investigating. Mine was the back of the seats where it connects to keep the seat upright. I placed a couple of foam pads in there where the metals were rubbing.

Update:

They are now replacing the whole tailgate.

They've readjusted the latch back to where it first was but the first issue (knocking noise) has reappeared.

Crazy. Hope you get sorted. Driving the a6 2017 plate at the moment and there is zero rattle. Driving mine there are also rattles with the sound system up and in the a6 full ball there is zero.

I've just come out of a A6 Saloon Facelift.. zero issues in my 3yrs of ownership

So car been with dealer 3 days in total, today they have removed the rear window and informed me they believe they have cured the issue, but they wont road test until tomorrow so give the glue time to cure properly.

They also said their is a fault with the roof aerial, new one ordered and will be fitted tomorrow if painted in time ! !!
They called today to apologise and said there is in fact no issue, and it's to do with the fact that Audi Phone boosters have been disabled as per the fact that OFCOM have banned them in the UK - I'm sure some of you may have read this on the forum a number of weeks back - Just as well they spotted it eh !

Just hope tomorrow the tapping has gone when they road test tomorrow !

3 weeks old !!

Yes I have, now I know what it's for - No fault at all !

Mines going in to have the rear lights looked at.. I dont have tech pack but paid extra for wireless charging... I had to as this was a insurance replacement and was closest spec match to mine. So if they disable the booster i want a refund

Disabling the booster stops wireless charging then?

No it doesnt but it stops the booster... Its more principle i had to pay for it to save a 12 week wait for a new car so i want all the features i paid for to work

My understanding is the booster boosts signal strength by something like 20%. Hardly seems worth it really.

There is a couple of signal black spots on my commute it does mean the difference between a (just) usable signal and non
