Whats the best thing to use before using the Fusso, just a good wash ?. I'm not going to clay first too much work

F7 is a cleaner sealent so wash and the a coat of F7 should be fine. If you want for it to last long and give paint a 'warmer' feel the I'd decontaminate the paint, clay it put Fusso and then wax it.

Proper prep can dramatically improve the performance of your wax/sealant.



Final polish to cleanse the paint is best. To polish you need to clay first...so clay and polish!

Gents, so I now have a clay bar, Clay lubricant and loads of polish.

I gather steps are:

1. Pre rinse
2. Tar remover
3. Decontaminate
4. Rinse
5. Snow foam and dwell
6. Rinse
7. 2 bucket wash
8. Rinse
9. Final rinse with 0ppm - optional but as I have a filter
10. Clay bar (9 may not be needed until after this on 2nd thought).
11. Rinse/final rinse
12. Dry
13. Polish
14. Seal
15. Admire

Anything glaring missing or order change?

2-6 can be interchangeable as it completely depends on how much decontamination is required. Also, and as I regularly wash the car I combine steps 2 & 3 and use only one product; BH Korrosol!

My steps are:

1- Alloy wheels (always first and use BH AW on dry wheels)
2- Tyres washed with BH Surfex HD with a dedicated brush (off course it it for tyres only )
2- Snowfoam and dwell (I have found snowfoam to work better on a dry car rather than wet)
3- Rinse
4- Tar Remover/Decontaminate*
5- Rinse

Rest of the steps are

*I only use either BH Korrosol or CarPro IronX as a fallout remover. I don’t use Tar removers as usually they require wiping them afterwards, which I am personally not comfortable with. I have used Tar Removers in the past but never wiped it. On the few occasions that I used Tar remover I have simple sprayed it, let it dwell and then jet washed it.

I tend to do decontamination after washing, but it’s up to you. Otherwise yea looks great

Clay bar can leave micro marring, so good to follow it with a polish. It’s only light, so even if you are just doing a final enhancement polish, as supposed to a correction (compounding) then final polish, you will still be fine.

Korrosol and Iron X remove iron (inorganic compounds). They won’t do anything to remove tar and sap (organic). CarPro has a product called Trix that does both, but it’s generally agreed to be pants at both, so better to have two separate products.

There is no real reason for chemical version of either iron removers or tar remover, as a clay bar will get rid of them and more, but it helps remove heavier contamination first, reducing the risk of marring during clay.

If the car isn’t heavily contaminated, save the product and just clay is my humble advice.

Many thanks for advice and tips. I wasn’t very clear in my steps, I did wheels 1st too, and snowfoam dry car (apart from prewash)

Hmm, thinking about it, DC after wash sounds like a plan, then rinse off and final rinse if not claying and polishing

If the car isn't that dirty, I can see the logic of doing DC before hand. Basically I've thought of it like trying to get rid of as much crud as possible before the car is even touched. Pre-wash gets rid of must heavy dirt, tar remover to get rid of heavy tar spots, and Iron X rids of most embedded iron. This is all before you have even touched the paint with the wash mitt.

Of course if you are polishing after anyway, it doesn't make too much difference!

+1 on the above Doc. I have tried Trix as well as dedicated Tar removers and tbh I am not a big fan of any products that offer a bit of both, at all. For me it has always been to use a product which is designed to do a specific job. For me, Korrosol and CP IronX do the job and does it really really well.

+1 on that one too. I don't do DC with every wash, it is usually a once in a couple of months thing and is completely dependent on how "dirty" the car is. However, I do use IronX more frequently than I do Korrosol. I will also use Korrosol and IronX for example if I am waxing the car or applying CP Reload / BSD mix and it is to make sure that the paint is as smooth and DC'ed as possible.
