Note to self! drag starts on sachs

feckkkkkkk, had me sachs organic clutch in for over about 1500miles now, great clutch handles power real great to cudnt be more happy with it handling the 400bhp.

but dammmmmmm never ever again will i try a drag or race start while ridding clutch! decided to try it at the lights yesterday the smell was unreal! actually thought it was on fire or something, even today if i pop bonnet i can still smell burnt! usually if would clear off by now but for it still have smell lingering concerns me.

do ya think it would have done any bad damage to clutch? lesson learnt though ***! felt like slammin me head in door after done it lol

what i was thinking but no issues with it driving or slipping etc, it must have really ****** hated that though, me poor baby

The only issue I can think of is you may have glazed the surface of the plate, which could lead to slipping when the clutch gets very hot

I don't think you'd have done any damage at all.
That clutch is designed for much more abuse than that. You're probably just analysing and worrying about it more because we are all a little precious about our own cars.
Its probably smells because at only 1500 miles I recon its still bedding in.

thats good to hear, the smell has actually gone now i drove it for bit since last night, gone a little judery in reverse an slightly settin off but shud be ok tbh. cant say i wernt flappin i little though lol
think will give them a miss in future though.

thought it would have been bedded in by 1000 miles though?

I haven't really rid my clutch even on a launch but never had clutch smell. I just dump the clutch or just get a small roll then smash it.

My 8P had the same clutch and the same smell every time I launched it or slipped it reversing up a steep driveway. Still gripped like the proverbial though.

did yours ever judder mate in 1st setting off or on reverse? ever since did that feels little more juddery , was quite smooth before did that launch aswel

No pal. I can make it judder as it's a 4 paddle so only bits when a paddle hits the flywheel but I don't.

Launching manuals can be tricky and isn't great on the cars components to be honest. Autos slip the clutch themselves so there less likely to damage stuff.

No judder at all. How old is the clutch? You really need to bed it in before you do any launches; similar to bedding in new brake pads.

My Sachs organic is on 1000 miles and there’s no real judder, might get a little in reverse up hill onto my drive. As for a launch, I’ve not tried a balls out side step of the clutch, I just get of the mark and get the clutch up then floor it. No smells from mine but I have heard that because of the organic material in the clutch you can get a nasty smell sometimes.

Was fitted about 1500 miles ago.
Judder has kinda chilled out now seems to be smoothin out the more i drive it. I took it easy with the clutch till about 1000miles before loading so should have been bedded.
Nothin worse than thinkin about replacin it already lol. Think am good though i dont bomb it at every givin chance tbh. Only wen called upon
