What have you done today?

Changed my coolant temp sensor. (Green plug (4 pin) for a new Green plug (4 pin) from Euro C.P. + then put a litre of G12 coolant in.

Wasn't half full of crap / slime.

  • Job's a good-un & running like a dream :D

what you planning on revving it to?
i fear for your gearbox with your kill rep on them.... eak!

High enough lol, hoping for another 800 or so rpm more than previous.

Should be livelier off boost with high comp and sooner boost onset with different fuel

Will be full dog kit as OEM wouldn’t stand a chance in hell against this probably on actuator

Rennsport intake ready to be bolted to engine. Sorry for bad pictures.

Fits to your engine bay and you can close hood. <-this was what some people wondered

I assume from your profile pic you have an 8P S3... you would be better off asking this question in the correct section dude... this is the earlier 8L section and this thread isn't really for asking questions in...

Cheers

Replaced the clockspring and made the airbag light go out. Yay!
Have replaced it with the ESP light instead. Boo!
VCDS Lite says 00778 incorrect or no basic settings at least the light is orange and not red.

Have now got a fully working rear wash wipe. Pushing the washer stalk resulted in a puddle under the engine, reconnected the pipe under the black trunking behind the air-box. Sense of achievement rapidly disappeared as a pool of washer fluid rapidly appeared behind the rear wheel. Took out the trim panel, cd changer ad sub reconnected the other joint and all working.

Wedged by the sub and covered by foam padding is something that looks like a pump with a blue and yellow hose connected to it, the hoses look to run under the boot door and into the off-side trim panel before joining a red and black set of hoses. What are they for??

Central locking...

Started the a3 today and cleaned it after standing for six months starts first time every time most reliable car I've ever owned although there is a water leak straight in the bottle straight out its coming from the back of the block???

6 gallons per mile...!!

Haha probably not to far off! 6 gal per min (about 1600 litres per hour) at 100 psi for the pump though at 8k iirc. Will flow even more at higher rpm

If calcs are correct will do up to 4 litres per run down the strip

coolant reservoir cap wasnt holding pressure anymore so decided to replace both the cap and reservoir as the old one was beyond tatty looking, i can see my coolant level now yay. bled the system afterwards, everything flowed freely, doubt there was much air in it

Not really s3 related but gave the r a good wash
Can’t wait to unwrap the s3 and start rebuilding it few more months and than the transformation begins as amazing as the r32 sounds I just don’t get the same enjoyment as from the s3

Nice mate, what you got planned then? Just collecting more bits? Looking forward to see what you make of it.

I’m thinking v6 turbo route as price wise there’s probably not much difference than full rebuild and gt30/35 and can run on less boost on the 3.2 with gt 30/35 and standard internals and do them over time plus the v6 sounds better . I don’t want to rush it but I want it done cars been off the road 2 years now and it kills me walking past it everyday. I pick up the 18z calipers for it on Monday from powder coating aswell

Sounds exciting! You going to use the motor from your R then? I often get tempted to chop mine against a nice mk4 r32 - but then I go for a blast and can’t being myself to do it

No the mk5 r32 engine won’t work plus that will be sold/ traded in at some point. I’m going to get a mk4 r32/mk1 tt engine or the 2.8 4motion engine

What’s up with it?

Ilegal immigrants smashed in to a van that i then went up the **** of back in December, my insurance refused to cover me as in my small print i wasnt covered for traveling to and from work even tho i selected social and domestic so after getting all the parts i need bar a headlight my mechanic is now getting ready to sort her up

liking the colour TJ, but yeah that paint job is a bit rough! I wouldn’t be happy with that either. Maybe you could use some fine sand paper to even it out and cover with clear VHT?

Yeah I can’t belive it took them a week and it looks like a rushed job can’t believe they let them go out like that. Told them when I dropped them off that I’d have more bits to get done like the tears and some engine bits but won’t be going there again

I think I could have done better job with a dirty paint brush and on eyes closed. Not acceptable. Hope you can square it away and get them looking how they were intended to be.

I’d be taking them back and asking for a refund mate. Don’t let them get away with that.

I did mine with a dremel, sandpaper, wire brush, VHT primer, paint and clear coat with no previous experience and it still puts that ‘professional’ job to shame.

TJ are those pistons in backwards? They look odd and no dust seals visible

Love the color but it’s a shame about the finish, that’s terrible workmanship. Hope you are able to send them back to be done properly

Ha no no pistons or seals fitted yet will be doing that when the new pistons arrive. The old pistons were chipped/ damaged It seems each Caliper has 3 aluminium pistons and 3 phenolic pistons which I didn’t realise until I went to order them

Haha, that would explain it :)

Thinking of retro fitting heated seats, brought a set of heated seats for the heating elements to fit in my mint seats

Lots of work but i know more about Recaro's seats now:chuncky:

Will the airbag and buttons work mate?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

airbag = yes

Buttons = Maybe, and the primary reason is if i was running an RNSE then i would need to fit a4 8k buttons since they're based on an older version of the lin gateway that is compatible with the a3 8p steering control module, im running an win ce hybrid headunit however and im hoping my canbus emulator will be able to communicate with the newer 8v gateway otherwise ill just have to fit the a4 button set also. but steering controls is doable
