Not keen on the grooved part of the centre console, the cup holder part in front of the gear selector, think it looks a bit cheap. Can it be removed and wrapped or hydro dipped. Not sure what wrapping would do on a grooved surface.

Link is genuine carbon option but pretty pricey

Anyone done the stick on versions Ive seen?

Be careful with that company.

A guy on another forum bought some carbon parts and had a right old struggle getting them once he had paid.

In theory it could be. Ive not seen it done but stick-on kits I have seen on other cars look just that: stick on. Best pop into a hydro place and ask I think.

I agree with you that the cup holders are in the 'wrong place' and do not look very aesthetic, however, I am glad they are there as the 8V A3 is bereft of anywhere to stash things - coins for parking, opener/toll fobs etc

Thanks think I’ve seen that before

Video doesn’t instill too much confidence, overlays look high as well

Think I’m correct in saying to get the part off I want altered console would have to come out and glue welds would have to be heated

I’ve been looking at buying some extra parts to have a go either covering with alcantara or dipping. Not sure yet.

Does anyone know the part number of the centre console. Might buy a second hand one and use get the part I want hydro dipped to see the outcome. Plenty of second hand ones on eBay

Neidfaktor all day long:). Here is the one I ordered as well as some custom alcantara work to finish off the inside of the knee bolsters and usb plug area.

Hah thanks, the floor mats are weathertech all season floor mats. Have never heard of them being considered cheap, but might be worth throwing the RS mats back in now that we’re finally out of winter. Or maybe some swank shag carpeting?

Cheers

How much money for the centre console

How much money for the centre console

It was roughly $1500, but that cost is half of that if you provide the center console. I sold my stock center console for $500, so net cost was roughly $1000.

They are amazing to work with. All materials are matched with OEM (carbon fiber and alcantara). They took my VIN to perfectly match everything. Fit and finish was 100% OEM.

About to attempt to have the centre console hydro dipped, a few questions

1. See picture, does MMI wheel and buttons detach so I'm just left with a piece of plastic for hydro dipping

2. Is the part in the picture generic or is there a LHD/RHD version

3. Anybody know the part number of the centre console

4. Is the part the same in FL and PFL

If someone has an exploded drawing, that would be great.

If I went for a carbon fibre effect, opions on this matching the standard Optic 3D design in titanium grey

Intention is to hydro dip the part in the pictue and also the part around the gear lever/cup holders, but thinking of buying second hand parts to have dipped

Wow https://neidfaktor.com/sattlerei/?lang=en

They have some fantastic stuff here - scroll to the bottom and your find a full alcantara covered dash and full leather S/RS3 doors.

I would love my centre console in Alcantara but the cost and hassle to fit it is too much. Unless somone knows a company that will do it and fit it (like with my wheel from royal steering wheels)

Hydro dipping approx £200

Genuine carbon centre console £1000

So going down the dipping route

Yes but the difference is like night and day. I get what you mean on the price though. Personally I'd rather not do it than have a film dip, its a bit Vauxhall.

Thats why I want to buy a apare and get it done on that, see where I am with it, I think the centre console looks a bit Vauxhall now with the "brushed" plastic around the cup holders, and dont get me started on the air vents with aluminium "look"

Wheres the piano black and aluminium gone from the 8Ps? And even the 8Ps arnt a patch on the interior of the 8Ls
