My pads on my 8v have like 2mm left. There sqeeking like mad when coming to a slow stop.

Do I get orginal Audi pads or can anyone recommend a good after market pad?

There are two that many here find good and solve the squeal problem:

Ferodo DS
EBC Redstuff

I have Redstuff, but by all accounts the Ferodo are good too. I like the Redstuff as they do not appear to throw out loads of black dust comme the oems... Make sure when replacing the pads that you give the edges of the back plates a good smear of brake pad paste and DO use the shims supplied between the backing plates and pistons.

These should pretty well cure the squeal, but it also helps to fit the frequency balancers on the back of the calipers - check you dont have them first though, feel the inside of the caliper and if there are two canisters fitted, top and bottom, you have them already.

Thanks mate. I had ferodo on my rs6 but they made so much noise and even a clicking sound I took them straight off. I replaced with genuine Audi pads and never had any squealing

The pads that are on the rs3 now are gen Audi pads and also haven’t ever had any squealing until just this week once they got so low! So maybe to be safe get genuine Audi pads? I can get them from TPS so a fair bit cheaper than from Audi

Ferodo DS2500 or Ferodo DS performance ?
I used DS performance on my 2015 8V and they were perfect.

DS2500 are more a track pad.

Arrr ok maybe mine was the 2500s hence squealing like mad.

Where can I buy the performance ones from mate?

Have just looked everywhere and even demon tweaks no where sells them for the rs3

If you can hang on Ferodo are due to release RS3 dedicated DS performance pads
They are around 6/7 weeks off being available.
If not you can use the RS4 pads (same caliper) but you’ll need to cut off Audi pads wear sensor plug and solder to the RS4 pad lead.

Ar ok mate cool ye we will wait for them to be made thanks

The only recommended pads that actually work with the OEM connectors are the EBC redstuff atm right ?

I need to change my front pads, it got to that level where I'm ashamed of braking :sadlike:

I feel your pain. I remember after I got my RS3 being stuck in stop start traffic for hours. Hours of squealing brakes every time I braked. I walked into the dealer the very next day and let them know in no uncertain terms that I wasn't picking the car up till it was sorted.

I'm not doing that as I'm not under warranty anymore and there's no way I'm paying 800 bucks (random numbers) for a set of faulty pads :chuncky:
I think I'm going to give EBC Redstuff a try, I don't even mind an OEM braking "quality" as long as it doesn't squeal :blow:

I'm in the same dilemma - had the squeal fixed but the OEM pads are $$$$ from Audi, they're so dusty and only lasted me 17000 KM. Red Stuff I think for me....less than half the price here and have the wear sensor inbuilt now so almost OEM!

When the discs are done I'm also thinking aftermarket as the OEM ones are soft like cheese too and are showing accelerated wear....

Hi mate do you no if these pads are ready yet?

Can’t find them ds2500 performance pads anywhere so must not of been made yet. May just go with Audi pads. Only have 10% left on them now and making a right racket

Hi, does anybody know the best place to buy these? Cost?

Do they also include the correct wear sensor?

I'm guessing Audi will invalidate warranty with regards to brakes only if I fit these?

Thanks.

Have then the DS pads specific for RS3 been finally developed? thanks

check out the group buy section. @creweaudiparts are doing some fantastic deals on rs brakes.

@Sandra :friends:

The biggest issue by far with the RS3 in all Generations is its front brakes........

It's why a lot of owners move away from Audi OEM pads because of the squealing from them........

The discs are also cause for concern for some owners too.........

It's a shame really because if Audi would actually have come up with a decent brake set up then a lot of owners would have actually stayed with OEM pads etc........
