Diamond Cut alloy repair.

I've tried to find the answer for this question already, but haven't. Sorry, if Its out there but couldn't find it.

Anyway, after only two (2) days of having our new S3 the Mrs decided she didn't fancy the alloys and much to my delight decided she was going to kerb them. I was hoping the Pirelli P-zero tyre protector would of done its job but it didn't and she did a good job of damaging half the 19" 5 v spoke alloys.

I've got a price of £95 to re-diamond cut. However, I raised a point to my local Audi dealer regarding the 'Audi Sport' logo etched onto the alloys. Has anyone had the alloys re-diamond cut and could tell me what happens with this logo. I'm led to believe by Audi that it doesn't get put back on and therefore on occasions customers have been given a whole new alloy.

Appreciate any advice.

Don't fit alloygators - they will ruin the diamond cut rim. I didn't realise that until it was too late......had mine powder coated after removing them and to be fair to the AG fitter he stumped up half the cost. We both missed that the small print says that they are not suitable for diamond cut wheels.....

Well according to the centre yesterday. They did. I'm sure if it was your car and 3 of your alloys had 'Audi Sport' etched on and 1 didn't you wouldn't be best pleased. Needless to say, I can't imagine they would make the mistake again, which is why I'm looking for someone who has had the same alloys done recently.

From my recent repair bill I can tell you that a standard S3 18" wheel is £750 +vat, so I hope you can get them sorted.

I'm sure if you went in to buy one you could get it cheaper, but that is what they have just charged to my insurance company £750 + vat x 2.

The silver lining to my mishap is that I don't have to get the scrape fix on the front left alloy I curbed previously. I'd had mine 6 months before I stupidly caught the curb, after 2 days ownership I think I'd be in the corner of the room rocking gently.

Sorry - I didn’t realise that you meant the repairer had made the mistake. They should have realised and pointed out that the logo would disappear. Although I would have thought it was obvious and etching a logo is not sonething you woukd expect from a wheel repairer.
