Facelift UK RS3 Saloon/SB (400ps) Order Thread...

Yes, Audi’s best used car finance rate on a PCP is 6.9% and only applies to some cars at promotion times. The usual is 10.9% but you can usually get that down to 9.9% or slightly lower. 6.9% is good considering the new car is 6.2%

The 3.99% won’t apply to PCP, it’s pretty much a bank loan against the car, you may do slightly better with mainstream banks at 3% if you have a good credit file. If you’re going down this path of buying outright with cash, it’s best to find a private sale rather than a dealer and cut the middle man out. The cars are brand new pretty much and covered by Audi’s warranty.

I doubt there’s much chance for discount on those prices, maybe £1k on the higher priced cars, can’t see a lot being taken off the cheaper cars.

It must have changed then or be for RS models. My car now was an Audi Used Car and I got 5.9% APR without any bargaining, that was last year in May. He did get back to me now with a PCP quote, a bit confusing though. He said 'PCP would be roughly the same with a £5k deposit over 36 months would be roughly £1179 per month then with a final balloon payment of £4186.25 subject to credit checks.' So a pretty small balloon payment compared to regular GFVs.

Had a reply from some of them. The £46k ara blue one said they offer finance from 3.99% APR but he only gave me a Hire Purchase quote for some reason of £1285.94 per month over 36 months with a £5k deposit. Cardiff Audi say they got a special deal of 6.9% APR which is 'much lower than usual', rather get a new one with less APR then, especially since that RS3 already has 4,500 miles on it.

Did Cardiff offer that on a new or used car? It’s much lower for a used car but I know they have a few to get rid of haha!

Are you local to Cardiff?

That’s just silly, no idea why they would give you a GFV that low. He’s fuc**d up somewhere as it makes no sense.

You would best be taking out £45k or so in 2 x 3.0% loans and buying the car outright if that’s the case. 3-4yr residuals for example are set at £26/23k respectively so god knows where he’s plucking £4K from as a final balloon. Why would you defer £4K of it, makes no sense.

£4K final balloon because he doesn’t want to sell it under a PCP, that’s not a proper PCP deal.

Not sure if Im regretting not getting the aluminium styling pack, the contrast makes the front seem wider to me.

I wanted a bit of a stealth 'ordinary' A3 look though, with the aluminium there's no mistaking what it is.

Hope youre happy, glad youve finally got your car, dont think the pictures do it justice

No I'm in the midlands. It was a used car with 4,500 miles on it, too many miles for me to consider it.

Well to be honest, I'm not too interested in that car but wanted to see what kind of deal I could get for it. Its £46k with £11k extras and 670 miles, all of that sounds good but its not the options I'd get. Not a big fan of Ara Blue, prefer the old Sepang Blue to it. It has stuff like increased top speed, smoking pack and advanced key which I wouldn't spec myself. I also wouldn't spec matrix LED lights but its a useful addition. I'm hoping by the end of March/start of April, there are bigger discounts or more nearly new cars around to choose from. I got this S3 PCP until May next year but would rather change into the RS3 before November so I don't have to do the second year service on it.

I think the aluminum pack suits the car better than black pack - but then again everyone with the black styling says the same about the aluminium!
The only thing I didn’t like was the back spoiler being the same colour as the car and so that’s why I had it wrapped black. I changed the rear puddle lights and on Tuesday @DJAlix is going to reinstall my BlackVue cameras.

My only problem is I only want to drive it in the loud modes! And that’s terrible for my economy. I’m so far averaging 17mpg since Thursday night!

Seeing as you’re keen on DIY, fit the cameras yourself? 2 hour job.

Don’t expect much more than 20mpg unless you drive on a motorway.

I don’t want to mess with the electrics; the puddle lights were easy enough... although one of them didn’t work when I fit it but after chatting to DJAlix he suggested it may have just timed out and he was correct so it worked after I closed the door for a bit.. but wiring to the car not a good idea.

I thought you were getting 40mpg? Being pulled by a horse and cart...

DJAlix fitted my cameras , yes I could have done it myself but someone’s who’s done it many times will do a better job so agree . As for MPG .. as long as I’m smiling I don’t count ..

It’s only plug and play, don’t have to splice anything.

40? If only! 36mpg sat on a motorway from one station to another at 60mph. Just over 30mpg on an average motorway run, otherwise 20-24mpg a tank locally is my weekly average, last few have been 17-18mpg.

Who cares, if we GAF about mpg we'd get something crap.

Smiles per gallon not miles per gallon

. Took a mate for a bit of a blast earlier. Covered around 15/20 miles, finally beat my PB and managed 12mpg:tearsofjoy:
That did include two more launches one was very interesting with all four wheels spinning up before all hell was let loose.
However I drove to Cambridge and back to look at a job on Friday and had a full tank, when I got home only three lights had gone out on the fuel level indicator. I had done just shy of 180miles. Was in comfort and couldn’t be ***** mode.

Looks fantastic... I know you have waited ages for it to arrive - and unlike us without tracking!

I really need to get on and buy the RS design air vents from vagmall... when you picking it up?

Looks good mate. I have never seen the cold start rev limited at 4000 rpm though - mine was always at 5k. Is this a shipping setting I wonder?

That's not quite correct, the bank loan is against you not the car. This only makes a difference if you get into fiscal trouble and you get baliffs coming around. The can't touch your car if on pcp as technically it's owned by the finance company whereas they can take it if it's on a bank loan.

The noise is fantastic when in dynamic or as I have set it up individual. It sounds like a super car; I have no doubt that the fact the 5 cylinder engine sounds very close to a V10 in characteristics is why to me it sounds incredible. I have left it in Auto mostly; had a couple of plays in manual to try and get the gear shift lights to appear but I am not pushing it to the limit. What I love most is the random crackles and bangs that seem to happen when I break and go down a gear.

Even when I am almost at a stop it will suddenly bang. It is very very addictive. The double bang on startup is also fantastic and scares anyone walking near the car! lol.

In comfort mode it isn't any louder than my S3... which is probably a good thing as I can't always drive with that noise as its not good for economy.

I have driven about 60 miles from the dealer back to home. I am finding the SS seats a bit hard to get comfortable in but I am sure I will find the optimal position with time.

The colour looks amazing (although @AudiNutta I love his colour more) - I think the matt aluminium finish looks so much better that the black pack because you see more detail of the bodywork with the contrast. Although as I said I wouldn't be against wrapping the area surrounding the doors black and I think the rear spoiler REALLY needs to be in black.
Not, audi lambo v10 sounds epic and is slot louder than the rs3. Rs3 sounds superb though but nowhere near the r8

Just spent some time ringing round the forums insurance sponsors to see if they are competitive, and, what a waste of time...

Sky Insurance... expensive and won’t insure the car without a tracker being fitted

Adrian Flux... almost 3 times as much as compare sites even with the forum discount

Chris Knott... won’t insure me as I’m not over 30 years of age! what a joke!

Prestige... waiting for a call back, but after trying the other 3 I’m not expecting anything in the way of a competitive price
I found direct line and privilege to be the cheapest with decent cover, both owned by uk insurance

Just go on compare the market. I appreciate not all insurers will be on there, but you'll get some of the cheapest prices about and saves a lot of hassle. I've been with Esure for three years now. I have no allegiances with them but they've consistently been the best, even when swapping mid term. Just swapped ny RS3 to TT-RS and the TT is cheaper than the RS3 to insure!
Car insurance us cheaper for hairdressers. Lol

I was paying £350 originally. Then when I renewed in December it shot up to nearly double that. Whether lots of RS3's are being stolen or crashed I'm not sure, but insurers do seem to have upped prices on it. I seem to recall @Leo-RS saying something like it was the most expensive car he insures, and he's also got an RS6.
Guess the s3 theft rate doesn't help as I'm sure insurers classify the rs3 as souped up s3

So far my cheapest quote is with CK £350 compulsory
Exhaust mods declared
In my thirty’s
**** postcode which is a massive influence on insurance as I use to live 5 miles up the road and my policy’s were half of what I pay now
£1055.
Crikey, wish my insurance was tgat cheap. I'm 50 and have max protected ncd, yet insurance is still £675. Even my 15 year old pug 307 and 14 year old a class lwb cost about £200 each.

You must live on an island.

Correct. Until it's had its PDI it's limited to 4000 rpm.

That was my excess Steve £350. My insurance with Chris knots with exhaust mods declared, 15000 miles per year is £1145:pensive:

Hi Guys, Newbie to the forum.
After running around in a G7R for 2 1/2 years I've gone and ordered a new RS3 Sportback. Look forward to chatting with you and have already recognised a few members that were over on the VWROC.

Nearly full spec:-
Nardo
Black Pack
less-
RS design pack
Carbon
CCBs
Phone Box

Dealer advised me of a 16 week wait, but info from this forum suggests it could be a lot sooner.

Unusual spec there, carbon ceramics and carbon trim but no Sports exhaust, leaving it on the standard wheels and no privacy to complete the black pack look? Or you planning swapping the standard wheels and exhaust over?

Has your order been locked down as the CCB’s are not listed on either customer nor dealer configurators and there’s been internal communication that the CCB’s have been removed from the lineup with immediate effect.

Unless buying the car for lightweight track work, I would much rather have the steels on the car, upgraded pads, disks and fluids if you really want that extra stopping power.

Sports exhaust would be considered a must or top priority for the majority of owners I would think.

The car is fully spec'd less the 4 items listed. Sorry for the confusion, I found this easier than listing every extra option.

Nice spec. I have the carbon inserts for various reasons - what a waste of money. £850 - really?

Oops, obviously misread that.

Nice spec then.:icon thumright:

Hmm, what’s the reason the carbon brakes have been withdrawn?

Not 100% sure other than usual rumour mill but CCB's are being removed / phased out from the RS range with the RS3 being the first to go. As soon as I read it, I checked on both customer and dealer configurators and right enough the ceramics option has been removed from ordering.

Below is a post from a respected member over on the TT forum...

I went for lunch with my contact from Audi UK today and he told me the following...

There was a big meeting at Audi AG last week for top level management from across the world. The MY19 line up was discussed in depth and My19 will be appearing early. Audi AG are streamlining models and options so they can re-tool production lines towards electric/hybrid build capabilities, which will be for a 2019 sales push. With that in mind there will be big changes to the MY19 line-up and then into 2019 more electric/hybrid models. The impact of this is certain current models/options is being limited/cancelled depending on country's sales numbers. In the UK for example CCB's are being stopped on most RS models, the RS3 being first with immediate effect.

The situation in the UK currently is supply of all A4, A3/RS3, Q5/SQ5 and TTRS models have dried up and dealers do not know when/if they are coming back. Unregistered stock cars are few & far between and Audi UK can't give specific build dates or estimates that are even remotely accurate due to them not know what Audi AG are doing. Apparently UK dealers are spitting feathers because their 'bread & butter' A3/A4's are in such short/unknown supply, they can't reach their targets.

There are conspiracy theories flying around, but the truth of the matter is the UK dealers simply do not know what is coming down the road. The execs came back with a "we'll be in touch when we have more news" message from Audi AG.

Very interesting - strange that they would not have any slots for A3/A4 as standard. Also surely the CBB aren’t made by Audi in the factory that makes the cars so I don’t see how stopping to offer them makes its easier - also considering how much they charge it must be a huge profit maker gone. But your right they are not on the configurators any longer.

I think Audi must be very keen to push RS3s here in Ireland. They're offering 1.9% APR and the GFV is higher than either the S4 or S5 so it's coming in €300 less per month for a very well specced RS3 against a bare bones spec S5. It's even €100 cheaper per month than an S4 with 19in rims.

My next car will be S4, S5 or SQ5. But the RS3 is now well in the mix.

RS3 price in Ireland is one of the highest in the world though isn’t it? €70k base spec that doesn’t include advanced tech pack / Virtual cockpit which is standard in U.K. (€4.5k option in Ireland) Doesn’t include heated seats or Electric lumber.

Just specced a medium spec car upto 90k Euros, full spec has to be pushing 100k Euros.

Irish cars come with Ceramics as standard though, but with no Nav or heated seats. Sounds a little well, Irish ;)

€90k Euros is about £82k at 1.1 exchange rate. Has to be one of the most expensive comparisons in the World. I know the Dutch and Norwegians have a hard time too.

And don’t you guys over in Ireland have to pay a crazy annual tax to own such a car?
