Anyone else experienced this ? Picking up My S4 in a few weeks. Insurance when I ordered was £1600 and is now £2500 that’s the cheapest I can get. Increased after the snow weather I think and the amount of claims.

I can't think a normal winter would have any effect especially now we have probably seen it behind us. Nobody knows what it will be like next year as well.

It wasn't a normal winter up here in Central Scotland. .. Probably the worst in a decade
Besides it unlikely its put premiums up by that amount £900 to £2500 what age is the OP ? ?????

Very much doubt the snow made it go up that much??

OP is 20..

I’m 20 mate think that might have something to do with it. Got no choice now just pay it up, if I knew it would increase by that much I would have waited a year.

TBF you can only get car insurance a month in advance right?

Wait till closer to the time, it might go cheaper.

Yeah wait, l only insure my car the week l have it =during Audi's free week of insurance, car insurance premiums fluctuate constantly

As long as you do it at least 3 days before you want the insurance to start, you tend to get a good deal.

Ok cheers will save the quote last thing I want is it increasing to over £3000 haha. If that happens will have to let parents get insured and they can use it for a few months worst case scenario.

Not bad when u look at it compared to mine ;). Any reason why u decided to change the S3? That’s what I was gonna get originally however insurance was more expensive than an S4.

Pick up the motor on the 7day cover. You might be surprised what quote they offer to keep your custom.

if your constantly looking at website for quotes, try deleting cache and history or try private browsing, when companies use that info to see if ttheres interest they'll bump prices

Your age most likely has a lot to do with it. £44k car, with max ~3 years driving experience, it’s never going to be cheap.

My first car when I was 17 was a few year old Corsa, 1.2 engine, cost me almost 2k in insurance, I’d be glad I was getting an S4 for 500/yr more :)

I’ve 8 years experience now, and my A3 is just under £400 to insure

Weather is not a factor used in calculating car insurance premiums

Yep worst I've ever seen it up here - the Mrs has a bump in our Civic, and with her only having passed her test 1.5 yrs ago will certainly put up our insurance. Was hoping to get her finally insured on the S3 but looks like that's out the window...or maybe that's a blessing in disguise?? :thumbs up:

I have also found that getting quotes on Friday Saturday and Sunday cost more too... along with the bottom tip.

Extreme weather = more accidents = more claims = increased premiums .
Not sure that makes the weather a non factor in the equation .

Everyone could tell the same story
Yep, I was just answering his question: "Anyone else experienced this ?"

lol difference is I've been driving for almost 30 years not 3 ;) I changed the S3 as I liked the look of the A5 coupe as soon as it came out, so I waited until just before the S3 was 3 years old and managed to get a good deal on one, it cost me the same to change cars as it would to keep the S3! by the time I'd paid for a big service, 4 new tyres, breakdown cover, extended warranty etc. I do miss the power at times, but 99% of the time I'm in 30 and 40 mph zones anyway, so the A5 is quick enough, 0-60 in 7 seconds isn't slow by any means. If I get another Audi I'll go back to quattro though, I miss that more than the speed!!!

No, but if claims go up due to it, then so do premiums.

He's 20! My nephew is almost 22 and he got quoted £2,000 for an old Mini Cooper S.

Yeah I gathered that after reading more of the thread (should have done that first really, my bad).

Yours sounds bonkers cheap, mine's over £600.

At 20 I'd be saving money to get on the property ladder, not blowing it on an S4 and associated insurance tbh. Build experience and no-claims on something sensible in the interim.

I know what you're saying and I'd do the same at that age, but everyone has their own ideas and financial situations! He may not drink, smoke, gamble, buy designer cloths or go on expensive holidays, so the car is his pleasure...or he could just come from a rich family :) You only live once so why not??? ;)

20 years old and buying a new S4? Someone's doing well at such a young age. Good on you.

When I was 20, I had an Fiesta 1.4 SI

TBH if you can afford to buy an S4 at £40k+, £2500 for insurance is pretty cheap for both your age and the value of the car.

Many your age pay that and more for very mundane cheaper cars

Some of that is true ;) saved up since I was 17 for something high performance as that was my goal from a young age. Also with help of parents I managed to get on to property ladder so the rent I receive from the house is paying my car lease. My 12 Month internship working in finance will help a lot.

20 years of age + Audi S4 doesn't really compute in my head,, a S4 is a bit of a old codgers/middle management car in my opinion ie a car l would consider lol

Yeah, at 20, I'd be thinking about a Civic Type-R, Focus RS, Golf R, as being fast and fun. Or if desperate for an Audi, maybe an S1 or S3.

S4 does seam middle aged, and the S4 isn't the small package it used to be (now A3 saloon for that).

But, we are all different, and at if the OP's ambition is a S4, then great for him. Fast, understated, desirable, well built, and more room inside for when parking up with his GF :whistle2::thumbs up:

Yup, 2010 was worse though. Stayed for about a month causing major issues (unlike other countries who get many more times the snow fall we do!).
Think my insurance went from £226 to about £270 this year but it's a wee while since I was 20 right enough

Really wanted the S3 or Focus Rs but couldn’t justify the insurance. S3 was £3800 to insure and The Focus Rs was something stupid over £4000. Yes I could afford the insurance but that’s stupid for one year. S4 cabin is a nice place to be in really like the interior. Big upgrade from My A3 that I currently have.

Insurance is bizarre. I've had a multi-car policy for years now, as I have 2 cars. At one point I had a MK7 Golf GTI Performance along side a V8 R8. Jointly, the premium was £700 a year. When looking at the policies for both car, the R8 was actually cheaper to insure than the Golf.

Don't be so 80's man!!! I'll correct your last bit:

You forgot about all the other gender types. Shame on you. Don't be so 90's man !!!! We live in 2018. the OP might be :-

Agender
Aporagender
Bigender
Butch
Cisgender
Demigender
Femme
Gender fluid
Gender Neutral
Gender Queer
Intergender
Nonbinary
Polygender
Transgender

Or many others genders no one over 30 really cares about. God help kids growing up these days. They won't have a clue who or what they are.

Wonder what insurance companies would say if you claim you're neither a Man or a Woman? No doubt they'll claim sexual discrimination against the insurance company for not acknowledging their gender type.

I've just had a email Renewal Notice for the insurance on my A3 from my current insurer, Aviva. Last year I shopped around and the best I could get was £386 from Aviva. This year the renewal is £484, a £100 increase. So I decided to shop around again and so far the best quote I've been given is £335 with protected NCD and up to 180 days European use and £300 Excess from LV. That's £50 cheaper that the best (Aviva) quote for last year.

I used LV for my A3s from 2012 to 2015 and was quite happy with them so it looks like I will be changing to them again and saving £149.

Gender fluid
You have to be careful when it comes to gender fluid.

Dangerous stuff.

Get swept up in the moment and before you know where you are you'll be trading in your TT for a Sharan.
