VCDS Modifications

I struggled with it on mine, kept getting the errors, I seem to remember the steps out there had a bit activation which relates to side assist that you don't want to enable, and enable/disable it a few times after finishing. If you post me the steps your following i'll read through and see if I can remember. Mine is the basic Mono display.
Instructions as posted here. Thanks for the help. Only difference is I don't get asked for a security code well into adaptions though.

Part 1: Coding Changes

Module A5 (Frt Sens / Drv Assist) - You will be prompted for a Security Code to make changes to the coding in here, use code 20103. OBDeleven helpfully remembers this code if you come back to this module later.

Set HC to 'Active'

Set EFP to 'Active'

Module 17 (Dash Board)

Set Lane Assistant to 'Active'

Module 09 (Central Electrics)

Set Heading Control Config to'heading_control'

Module 44 (Steering Assistance)

Set Heading Control Assistant to 'Active'

You will probably have some error / warning lights on the dash by this point. Don't panic - continue on until the end and they should all clear!

Part 2: Adaption Changes

Module 5F (Information Electronics) -

Find 'Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2' and make the following adaptions within it:

Set Menu_display_Lane_departure_warningto 'Activated'

SetMenu_display_Lane_Departure_Warning_over_threshold_high to 'Activated'

Find 'Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2' and make the following adaptions within it:

Set LDW_HCA_0x19 to “Activated'

Set LDW_HCA_0x19_msg_bus to “Terminal 15”

Module A5 (Frt Sens. Drv. Assist)

Set BAP Personalization to “Not Activated”

Set Personalization of lane dept. warning Cl. 15 to “Last Setting”

Set System mode, lane depart. warn to “Selection via menu”

Set Switch-on condition, lane depart. warn. to “On”

You may need to toggle the switch-on condition between 'On' and 'Selection Via Menu' a few times before it activates. On my car nothing appeared to have changed either in the Virtual Cockpit or MMI menus until I switched it all off and left it for 30 minutes. When I next turned on the ignition I could see the lane indicators on the dash, and the MMI menu had appeared under the Driver Aids menu. If you still have error messages displayed on the dash then it's likely you did something wrong, retrace your steps and double check your coding!

Odb11, I used vcds. I have both so will plug in and see if my settings match.

Hell just noticed there I cant select anything in my parking aid menu. I have rear sensors, used to be able to select how loud the warnings were. Looked through my history and nothings leaping out that I may have triggered wrongly. Would reseting adaption settings fix this?

Is it possible to use the VCDS to stop the headlight washers working with the windscreen washers? I have Matrix headlights and MY18 car so they shouldn't have been in the original spec, but for some reason I have them; they get through windscreen wash so fast it drives me mad.

Not sure why you say they shouldn't have been on the original spec if you have Matrix lights as I'm pretty sure it is standard with Matrix and Xenon but not on the standard LED headlights. It is a regulatory requirement that any headlights exceeding 2000 lumens needs to have headlight washers fitted so they aren't a separate option, just part and parcel of having Matrix lights.

In the UK headlight washers and auto levelling are mandatory on all Xenon and LED headlight vehicles. Matrix = LED lighting, which is why you have washers. Interestingly retrofitted xenon and LED lighting does not require headlight washers.

Oh, I thought you didn't need them with LED lights, just xenon, because my brother's new BMW with LED's doesn't need them.

Also I saw that in the differences between MY17 and MY18 and washers were removed on the S4.

Oh well, I'll just have to put up with them wasting my washer fluid.

Think of it as washing, not wasting :welcoming:

Do they squirt every time you wash the windscreen? Seems excessive if so.

Pretty sure on most of my cars past and present the lights were/are cleaned every 3rd or 4th windscreen wash.

It's 2 large squirts every time I wash the window with the lights on.

You can do it with OBDEleven, so I should imagine that technically it's possible with VCDS - you've just got to find the setting!

Mine don't, however if you disable them through the VCDS then you car will fail a MOT, be illegal on the road and thus not be insured. Plus the fact that dirty lenses will cause the beams to dazzle oncoming drivers..

They are only mandatory with car that have headlamps of 2000 lumens or less. But if they're fitted then they must work..

That's interesting, how often do yours wash the lights then? If it's illegal to disable them then I won't be doing that.

Every couple of times seems excessive, don’t have them on my A4 but my Q7 used to do it about every 15 or 20 times from memory

Mine is every single time when the lights are on, even if I just washed the window a few seconds previously.

On my S4 with Matrix LEDs the headlamp washer does not activate every time I wash the screen with the lights on - I haven't counted the interval but would estimate it's perhaps every third or fourth go. IIRC my A6 Allroad (also Matrix LEDs) was every 5th operation.

Yes about every third go sounds about right same as my A3 was, it says as much in the manual, just doesn't give a number...

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll get them to have a look at it when it's in for it's first service.

Eh what the hell, the light washers are standard? How do they work? Can’t say I’ve noticed them?

It can't be done unfortunately, the S4 VC's are programmed with different firmware as far as I understand...

Has anyone managed to activate the the Traffic Sign detection?

It can be done according to Kufatec if you have Color DIS or VC and Matrix Led's (includes the same used camera for Traffic Sign detection) @DJAlix ?

Not tested this myself as I have no had a customer request the activation. I do know how to perform the activation tho :)

You can try it on mine if you like, RS4 with matrix lights.

More than happy to :) Don't suppose you have any availability this Thursday do you? If not, am working abroad from Friday until the 10th April, would have to be when I get back.

So you have to have Matrix LEDs for the sign detection to work?

Yes, correct. According to Kufatec's specs it requires the same camera which is used by the Matrix LED's to have in the option list.

Do the Matrix LEDs not utilise the same camera built into all A4s for pre sense city then?

I would suppose it's exactly the same camera, @DJAlix can the pre-sense be activated too on these cars with normal Color DIS?

I managed to get the menu for hud and vc but looks like the camera can’t recognize any traffic signs.
I got a message like this: No traffic sign recognized. I make a photo tomorrow.
