The warranty with ABT is through there own warranty company I believe , but they’re close enough with Audi that it can all be done through your local dealership.

All that could be wrong, but it’s basically the summary of what I can find on the net.

Please revisit the link to read my 2 pence worth (1 for each comment).

In my opinion, Audi calling ABT to build up a limited edition, for sale through the Audi dealer network is not the same as buying a tune box from ABT and having an Audi dealer install it. But, as I write this, it is the same result - both customers retain the Audi factory warranty.

I refute what I said condoned abuse. To me a spade is a spade, not a shovel or anythingelse. It is one way of ending that conversation politely.

Actually I do, as I have worked at Audi dealership in the past and have driven remaped cars, that were mapped by the dealer themselves. You may or may not be surprised with the tricks & stunts they pull. If it's going to make them a profit the then ethics kind of go out the window...

From my discussions with ABT Aust., the tune box warranty is handled by their warranty as long as the install was done by ABT/their agent/Audi dealer.
As long as an Audi dealer did the install, Audi only handles the warranty on the vehicle itself, and has nothing to do with the tune box. (It makes business sense that Audi has nothing to do with ABT's warranty. That normally leads to problems and ends up with a breakdown in the relationship).

These engines would be built to comfortably accept a certain power increase, I would call 20% reasonable. If one does not thrash the ring out of it then, if it suffers a failure, that to me is a faulty workmanship scenario and would occur with or without a tune box.

By still maintaining factory warranty with a dealer installed ABT tune box, to me that is Audi confirming their drivetrains will accept a tune box without any significant increase in stress.

There's a big difference between the ABT piggy-back and the simpler/cheaper ones which just tap into 2 or 3 signal lines to "fool" the existing ECU. In ABT's case they effectively piggy-back their own ECU over the existing ECU so that it actually takes whole engine control functions away from it. So its technically a far better solution which is why they have TUV approval and also provide engine warranty.

I did wonder about this because they seem to piggyback onto all the ECU connections... They also seem to limit the amount of power it provides dependent on oil temperature and other factors as well, which would likely keep the engine much safer again.

It's a good solution but it's also hooring expensive.
