New owner after some advice

Thats exactly what im after mate thanks for the pic, I installed some mud flaps a few weeks back so thats one off the list although they dont really seem to do much! They seem.to have just redirected the dirt elsewhere!

Which mid flaps did you got?

Seen few models for ours C6

These are the ones I got, fit was spot on I did need a couple of longer screws for the front though and you can fit them all without removing the wheels. Jacking the rear up just about gives you enough clearance. Ill get a pick in daylight tomorrow

EBay item no - 112165884272

I 've got the genuine Audi ones on mine, even though Audi say that the rears don't fit S Line models.
The only issue I've had is that sometimes the rears catch the ground if you come down a steep ramp or go over a big bump with 4 people in the car.

Have to say though, if I'd seen the eBay ones I might have given them a go as the genuine ones weren't cheap.

Will check them later.

Do they have a hole in them?
Not the one for the screw but the space indented, facing the wheel. Isn’t it where mud will keep on building up?

Might get those and apply audi decal on it to look nicer

Ouch.. Not cheap for a bit of plastic here are mine. Ignore the filth! They are recessed to collect the crud

I had a strip of leds lying around, supposed to be a backlight for a lcd monitor I was trying to repair. I just done a test fit in the boot and it lights up but goes straight out. Any ideas?

These mud flaps look ok at the back but cannot get convinced to the front.
For some reason, I had in mind totally different expectation if them.
Maybe I’ll wait to see them live and than decide.
Thanx for pictures Sean.

No worries mate they arent very big so I dont really notice them ti be honest and dont seem to be doing to bad a job, although my car is filthy at the minute its mostly due to Road salt from all the grit theyve been putting down.

Do you know if the lamp in the boot is fussy just like the exterior lamps with regards to the power they draw?

I doubt. You can stick any type of leds in there and it should light up.
What type of strip were you trying with? Some may have higher current draw than others.
Can you check the label from them?

I got a section of 3 5050 leds on a strip as front dome lights at the moment.
Was going to change the interior light to newer leds but they packed up so used those for the time being. They ok but giving more of bluish lidht as supposed to bright white.

Same I did with my footwell lights. It was single led there and wanted it brighter. Used same 3 5050 strip section soldered in and covering the existing led. Just in case I want to revert to original will need to desolder them and done.
They brighter then oem and still adjustable from mmi as ambient.
Did a write up about it.

Did you put the LEDs in place of an existing filament bulb, or as well as the bulb?
If they are in place of an ordinary bulb, the car may think that it has blown due to the low current and switch off the power. I think that Kris had a similar issue with the red door lights a while back.

It might be it but the issue turned out as faulty bulb, if I remember correctly. Still have same leds there and not modified the wiring in any way.

Ill have to dig the other strip out and see what type they are. The strip is a 23" lcd monitor backlight I was trying to repair. I think I need to trim it down as it blinds you for a second or two before going out! Ill try and stick the bulb back in and scotchlock the leds into the wires as @Simon968 suggested.

@krskirk are those xenons? Ive only ever had cheap hif kits before now which have all been fine. I was gobsmacked when I seen the price at europarts for replacements £100 plus for a bulb!

I’ve installed xenon Osram CBI D3S’s as a replacement of oem driving bulbs and H11’s leds with heatsinks as fogs.
Fog ones are still perfect and giving lovely light.
Using them only for coming/leaving home lights, tho.

Headlamps bulbs obviously needed replacement as were dull and yellowish on the road. Couldn’t see much with them tbh.
With those Osrams, first few months were such a improvement that I loved to drive in dark. Now, maybe got used to them but think they not as bright as they were from new.
They wouldn’t be, as all these xenons need burn time to get to proper temperature and all but that much?

Im assuming the answer is no but ill ask anyway, do our cars use d1s xenons at all? My dad has a set lying around and offered me them before.

I thought that was the case but googling brought up eBay ads for a6 up to 2009 so thought id ask. Cheers Simon

I did mentioned D3S bulbs in my last post, Sean.

@t8ups (site sponsor) has a very interesting stuff for sale, as for lighting. He got a set of D1S bulb or a ballast which allows to burn brighter. This deliver much more light output than D3S burners. It also burn faster reducing its lifespan but it does it bright as a spark.
He’s got explained it a lot in he’s thread and backing it up with numerous happy customers.
Good literature and amazing results

Apologies kris I reaf your post before posting too, my brain is mush lately.

Just found this whilst reading a build thread on here, it is off a a4 avant but may work for us

Bulb out warnings:

Channel 181: 65535 -> 0 (rear halogen to LED conversion)
Channel 191: 65295 -> 0 (disable all rear bulb out warnings)
Channel 192: 3 -> 2 (disable licence plate bulb out warning)

I dont vcds yet so cant check

@KrisKrk do you use a generic obd2 adapter with carista? My dad has a airbag fault with his passat and im having parking sensor issues so was going to take advantage of the 1 week free trial but it keeps saying that the adapter isnt up to the job (works fine with torque pro and vag Dpf)

I read somewhere that as these cars use hex you need vcds so does the official carista adapter use some clever trickery? Carly for vag also wouldn't work and complained about the adapter but wasnt sure if this was just a way of blagging a few quid out of people.

The big difference with the with the A4 is that the B8.5 had a full LED rear light option, and those lights were the same size / shape on the Avant from the B8 to the B8.5. That means the convenience unit had the option to switch off the bulb check. The full LED rear option did not become an option on the A6 till the C7 model (2012 onwards).

For the parking sensors I have previously diagnosed them by activating the system and crawling around and putting my ear against them one at a time. Working ones have a clicking sound, faulty ones do not. I have replaced 2 over the last couple of years diagnosing them this way

@Steveredman ahh right was worth a shot, stuck with relays then!

I have read about listening to them but mine wont activate. When I engage reverse or press the button the light just flashes and I get a beep. They work say twice out of ten attempts, I did put it down to the cold weather as this first happened when it was -4 but still happening now

On mine I got the beep and the light flashed, but whilst the light was flashing I could still hear the clicking from the working ones. It's worth a go.

Right ok Ill give thatva shot i assumed since I didnt get the display on the mmi that they wouldnt be working. Will give it a blast tomorrow

I have a genuine Carista dongle and got the 1 year subscription on the Carista app.
Not sure of parking sensor issue but airbag should be able to reset.

Guessing you need the proper dongle then, it connects fine but fails to pickup any fault codes and has a bit of text recommending an alternative dongle. Might just bite the bullet on vcds and get it between us

Great thread guys,

Love it when people go into length to get to the bottom of something!

Audi A6 is an amazing car, so underrated and overlooked!
The value for money is amazing!

Me and my dad both owned Audi A6's couple of years ago, both had TEAM HEKO wind delfectors fitted, looked quite smart if you ask me and helped with the rain!
However there is a little wind noise that comes in as they push up into the out window seals.

My A6 3.0 TDi S Line Quattro with 160k on the clock at the time:

And then there was my dads A6 3.0 TDi Le Mans Quattro, the car had a phenomenal spec!
Full black styling pack
Folding mirors
Digital tyre pressure monitoring
Reverse Camera
Full electrics heated seats
AMI
Original Audi Phone
BOSE
Had about 135k on the clock, looked and drove as if it genuinely had 60k!

Very nice mate! Im loving mine so far cant fault it other than a dodgy parking sensor.
Think ill invest in the heko deflectors, sick of getting wet when I open the window!

As mentioned in an above post,
Turn the ignition on, stick the car in reverse and go around the sensors with your ear next to them, working sensors will make a clicking sound, faulty ones won't obviously!

If none of them are clicking at all then loom could be damaged.

Do you have front and rear sensors with optical display?

Great motors bud

Like the mud-flaps on yours.
Got the picture of the rear ones?
Thinking of getting them fitted as new wheels with smaller ET making rims to poke out more than oem wheels did.
Mud is getting on the bumpers and bodywork with every wet patch on the road.
Hope no stones will be thrown out.

As for your dad’s car, love the tpm displayed. Wicked.
Rare in C6 chassis, no?

Thanks mate.

Funnily enough only that 1 driver side front had a mud flap lol!
Just looked through the pics and neither the front passenger or rears had mudflaps haha!:search:

Yeah very rare the digital TPMS, even the black styling pack is quite rare.
To be honest it had a few optional extras that are not common at all.

Anyone around here fit a front splitter? If so how far does it come out from the bumper?

Im toying with the idea of getting one but the pictures on the site make it look huge so not so sure. All the other alternatives aparently dont fit the sline like the cupra lip.

Also where are you all getting your rs6 grills from? The bay? Are they replicas or genuine? I know one of the ones on eBay is also on aliexpress not much of a price difference though.

I’d love to get the splitter on mine but “so called eom” ones or “oem fitment” on eBay are ****** expensive.
Surely, you get what you pay for and it must look great but ... c’mon. Over a £100 something for a lip I find hard to justify.
Cupra one is nicely cut and angled. Got curves where it should but ... it is more of a valance to me.
It is not flat and flush fitting, from what I’ve seen in pictures on other cars.
Those adhesive, cut to size rubber ones are alternative but in the bends and corners of a bumper will create same effect as Cupra “valance”.
Think there is not much of a choice on sline bumpers. In US, members of Audizine were adding splitters on their SE bumpers and they were looking really nice.
Shame in that but still our sline bumpers are bot so bad.

Front main grilles mainly source from fleeBay. I got mine from there.
Ordered all in gloss black and plasti dip it in matt black. Rings in Silver matt.
After over a year with it, thinking of going back to gloss
Grilles are replicas but fit pretty straight forward.
It is a bumper off job tho

Made myself fog grilles honeycomb inserts to match the main grille and it looks much nicer.
Redoing them now as plasti dip it when done a year ago and it started to lake off a bit.
Matt permanent paint will go on it soon and back on the car

I know what you mean mate the only one ive found that fits a s line bumper is 130. Ive seen a few of the Se motors with them on and they do look good. What is the big difference between the two that means it wont fit?

I agree our bumpers arent bad they just seem to be missing a little something to make it look meaner!

As for the grill Ive been eyeing a few up, think im going to stick with the chrome trim until it starts looking crappy. I like what you have done with the fog grills may have to attempt that myself at some point.

Might order the splitter and see how it looks, I could always return it.

I know what you mean mate not cheap for a bit of plastic ive found a few between £105 and £140. A couple are listed as rs6 lips but apparently they fit the s line. I will try and find the links
