S5 Exhaust Valve Mod

Really want to do this but can't find the connectors when i'm under the car :help:

Love starting the car, but hate it when the valves close up 10 seconds in.

What do you think is in the valve control unit, wouldn’t take much to fool the car that it’s still plugged in?!
Plugs are available and a whizz with electronics could sort this I’m sure!!

I have been reliably informed this can be done via coding with no errors.
In touch with someone and will see how much etc....

Hi Guys,

Not been on here for a while and noticed this exhaust thread is still going. Since the last time on here I had unplugged the valves, but the sound IMO for a performance car still was not right, so took the plunge and got a Milltek non res catback exhaust system fitted with 100mm titanium tips and WOW what a difference!....sounds like it should.....AWSOME! I have the valves plugged in again now as it is just too loud without. Also, I felt the carvo wheels could have been better so changed them as well for 20" x 10 TSW Bathurst in silver/chrome, and now the whole look and stance is better too. If anyone is interested, so far I have done the following:

Installed a TDI tuning box (now 415 bhp with new exhaust)
Installed the above exhaust & wheels mentioned
Installed S5 front & rings rear puddle lights

Next up I am going to have the rear diffuser, front lower lip, & side skirts wrapped in 3M satin carbon fibre.

I really must stop this, it's like being a teenager again!

Does this work on the 2014 S5 sportback? I had a look under the car today but couldn’t see these valves?!?

I believe they're more 'mechanical' in nature and a mod was used for the same purpose. Bound to be a thread on here mate.

Searched a bit, it seems the 8.5 doesn't have valves!

Arrrrr. I know Deano done a mod for the B8 RS4. Yes I think you're right mate. I should know that. Sound actuator was it?

Mate them Bathurst's are perfect for the S5 sportback. You get the idea from @wize1972? YouTube? And those monster pipers! Wow. I'd do something similar on my S4 but don't want to take away from next car deposit.

Saw them on wize1972 YouTube channel, but did not want black ones as IMO didn't think they would look right on a black car, but any other colour yes....especially on white. When the car is replaced, I may take the wheels & exhaust off and sell them separately. Should get 50% or so of cost providing the rims are undamaged, and the pipe is stainless steel anyway.

Glad I inspired your wheel choice! Love your S5 :)

Will do my best but they never sound the same as in real life. Even the Milltek site doesn't.

Variation of clips with distances and comparison are always good, if possible.

Well that was a surprise you replying!....love your Nardo S5, and it suits the black Bathursts. You have to get the Milltek exhaust though, it really does sound impressive and how it should IMO.

Eheheh, sometimes I get lost with all the forums I’m in... my Bathurst aren’t really black, I’m contemplating painting them in gloss black to match the other bits but still not sure about it

I think they look good as they are. These cars really can be a money pit though, spent 6k so far and it is still niggling me to do other things.

Well I'm not the best at video and used an iPhone. The exhaust is loud enough to cut the sound a bit in places, but hopefully you'll get the idea!

I'll try and do a better one soon. Sorry It's short & a bit crappy.

Hi Wize,
You sure about gloss black. Satin black maybe? A powder coater told me never to powder coat wheels as it will hide any wheel cracks.

You blew the mic out yeah it does seem very loud and altogether more exciting how much? Not cheap are they? Think I'll hold off until RS4 but if I was keeping my S4 for 5 years or so this mod would be a must!!

Things may have changed (but probably not).

Check this bad boy out! Oh my god.

I've asked about pricing.

Also interested in the AWE Track and touring exhausts. Ultimately I'll probably bottle it as it just detracts too much from an RS4 deposit. Even if I got back 50% of the outlay. But I am tempted.

@DeanoC, question.

Do you think the B9 S4 AWE Touring Exhaust will fit the the B9 RS4? - the tips obviously.

To me the third video seems like an A5 diesel with quad pipes fitted not a B9 S4........lots of black smoke!!
The fourth video is more like it and sounds the same as the non res catback Milltek I have on a cold start. After that I think the Milltek has a lower tone and is slightly louder. Maybe because the AWE is a touring version though? Hard to properly compare with video sounds.

Any track exhaust I am told drones like hell on a motorway, so that option put me off.

The Milltek I bought was from Roadrunner Motorsport @£2009.00 Inc VAT delivered. I then paid a mate who runs an exhaust/tire shop to fit it for £100.00 cash. It took 2 of them nearly 6 hours as it is a real pain with the downpipe connections just above the gearbox with only a few inches for a spanner, and also you have to remove/replace all the underside covers and braces as well. His last word to me was 'don't bring it back!'

If anyone is around or passing the Milton Keynes area your welcome to listen & compare.

Haha. You've got good mates. Yeah the smoke on one of the IPE threw me off too. The upper end sounds more characterful/brutal on the IPE over the Miltek. Again, only got video to compare. The cold start on the S5 with Touring Exhaust does sound pretty good. Good value on the AWE system.

Yeah, the AWE are good systems without question. Bit of a ****** trying to settle on something you have never heard in the flesh though. All I knew was that a track system would p*ss off all my neighbours in the morning, and the drone would drive me mad.

Yeah I've watched some really accurate vids on the track Edition and honest opinions of it. Even from heavy B8.5 tuners that had it. Cabin drone seems to be intense.

As I've decided to hold off on a B8 RS4 and hold out for a B9, I thought an exhaust mod on the S4 would be an idea for a couple of years. But tbh, the stock valve unplug is really nice. And a deposit is more important. Just need to purchase some patience
