...my beloved Audi S1 has been stolen today - not that I expect anyone to see it, but if a 64 plate, Sepang Blue S1 with the Quattro styling pack is seen about let me know.

It was nicked from Sidcup in Bexley at around 12.45 today so could be a fair distance away by now!

So sad, was the key nicked or do you think it was trailered?

I’m puzzled as to how modern cars with immobilisers get nicked if you still have the key?

...they broke into our house and stole the keys, in fact both sets - neither on view or in a room near the front door which they smashed down.

Taken from the street in broad daylight - nighbour saw some hoodies getting into it and called me.

Police have been around but said no forensics worth taking. They didn’t take anything else even though there was a brand new Apple laptop next to the keys - clearly after one thing!

Get AWG on the next one, can't be nicked even with keys.

TX.

Check YouTube, it's very common and very easy for them!

What's AWG? I googled but doubt you're talking about American Wire Gauge!

Arch_SQ5 - It might help a bit if you could post the number plate, no offence but most of the S1's I see are Sepang Blue. I hope you get it back undamaged and unthrashed.....

AWG - AutoWatch Ghost. Its an immobiliser solution.

Sorry to hear it got stolen. Glad no one was home though

Fairpoint - the Rev is DF64VOB

So far I’ve heard nothing and my insurers are starting a total loss claim - annoyingly there were 3 items in the car, 1 highly sentimental and 2 fairly expensive items which they’ve said they I don’t have cover for as the content cover is only £200!

Is that house insurance cover only £200?

No the car insurance only covers £200 of content and there was about £1000 worth in the car.

I’m sure I could claim on the house insurance for the content of the car but alway wonder if it’s worth the lose of no claims...

Does your vehicle have a simcard in it? Just dealing with a stolen Merc at the moment and it's being tracked by an app from Mercedes which uses the mobile SIM in the vehicle.
Might be worth a call to Audi? I know BMW can do the same

Oh that might be a good call, the local Audi franchise called me earlier this week to say that Audi had notified them that my S1 was 'inspection due'. This message only appeared on Sunday (it had been counting down the miles before that) so it does appear that the cars can communicate with Audi.

...it’s funny you should say that, because I also got a call from Audi just as the service counter said it was due - yet they have assured me it doesn’t have a sim card in it and it’s not trackabke in any way (I checked with my dealer the day it was nicked!)

The police still haven’t given me the courtesy of a call to say, well anything - I appreciate nicked cars aren’t high on the priority list but how someone can take a car in London during the day and not get picked up on TFL cams is beyond me - especially as police were notified within 15mins if it happening.

It's a shame the ANPR cameras can't be used to ping when a stolen car goes past them as well. Seems the tech is only to catch us out not to help catch criminals :(

Anpr cameras do alert when a stolen car goes through them, not sure what you're getting at. They alert for a whole range of things, most of them criminal offences.
The issue is, these cars are stolen for various things, some are parked up for a few days to see if they are being tracked, others are driven well out of the area as quick as they can and then plates are changed and it's either broke down, or used for other crimes. These aren't opportunist thieves, they are very organised crime gangs.

Yup, the police activated the plates against ANPR within 15mins - after having no contact from the police from day one I called today and was advised the case was closed and that’s the end of that.

Wonder how long the insurance will take to pay out!

Unfortunately there isn't a lot that can be done, once ANPR convoy analysis is complete, it's just waiting to see if it turns up.
