Hi guys,

Has anyone had their car fully wrapped?

I am thinking of getting it done, mainly to protect the paintwork from more scratches.

How much did you pay if you did?

Thanks

Ceramic coating could be an option

Been quoted £350 for a ceramic coating on my car, should provide some form of protection - obviously not designed to take as much as wrap for example... but I asked for a quote on a wrap from someone else and I was quoted between £700-£3300. No idea what each end of the scale included, didn't even ask because I thought it's likely £700 will be the bonnet, mirrors and maybe the bumper but the whole car would be the top-end £3300.

Also check the prices for plasti-dip!?!? A member on here had their S3 done in Martian blue if I recall the colour correct...it looked great :)

***Found the post but no pics, price is there though :) http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/dandanfings-s3.230971/#post-2305977

Any wrap under £1200 probably won't be worth it's salt. To get your car coated in a proper known ceramic coating you're looking at £400-800

The problem with a wrap is that you don’t know if they have damaged the underlying paint work until it is removed. Take it to the wrong place and they could scratch the paint as they cut and apply

Hi, just a quick reply...
Wrapping a car is quite labour intensive when done properly, the quote you received between £700 to £3300 really varies on car sizes. A smart car exterior could be done in most basic colours for around £600-£900. Most saloons can be done around for around £1400, this will be majority of colours in satin, gloss, or a matt finish and will cover all external paintwork (plastic body mouldings should never be wrapped as they have a low surface energy and will more than likely blow off with the wind.
Also bare in mind a wrap is not permanent. Some vinyls will need to be removed within 1-2 years otherwise the adhesive becomes permanent. Some vinyls have a lifespan of 3-5 years. In any case when the vinyl is removed if there is any adhesive left behind it can still be removed but can add up to costs.
We offer a 1 year warranty on off of our work in case anything starts to peel back/bubble etc.
I would say the quote for £700 would be for the entire car but may be using a slightly cheaper vinyl.
For £3300 I would expect a high quality vinyl in an exotic colour (flip colours, and some chrome's) maybe even include door shuts and returns.
Hope this helps.

That is a sad truth about the wrapping industry, be sure to ask how they will be cutting on the car as there are cutting tapes available so the tip of the blade will never touch the paint.
But bare in mind an experienced installer can cut a price of vinyl on a balloon without popping it. It does take a gentle hand!

Wrapping would vary quite a bit dependant on size of car, colour of wrap, type of wrap etc. I would stay well clear of any place offering a cheap wrap, far too many risks involved and potential damage to the paintwork that you wont know until you take it off. If you're worried about protecting the paint work you could look at 3m clear bra and have it applied to the bonnet, bumper, side wings and mirrors.

I haven't had my car wrapped but I looked into before. I was looking into clear 3m type protection over the whole after seeing many supercars with this protection. I also know some people who have had cars wrapped by Yanni so asked them for advice and feedback. There is no way I would risk damaged paintwork!!

The best advice is to get some quotes from reputable dealers, see examples of work they've done, find out about the quality of materials to be used, ask which brands of vinyl and make sure they offer good aftercare. £700 sounds a bit too cheap but at the high end some cars cost several thousands... £5000+
